Arrow Where to Find 3D Lettering

Hey guys,

I filled out the information for the free lettering to name your Toyota which I thought was pretty cool, but it's chrome. I was wondering if any of you guys knew where to get some raised lettering. Maybe 3"? I looked all over amazon, searched google and searched here, but I can't seem to make it work.

I need black. Anyone have a suggestion?

Plastidip or paint the chrome after you get it. It's plastic and will accept either.

Absolutely can't believe I never used Plastidip for anything. I just spent the last 20 minutes reading and watching that dipyourcar dude Fonzie. Awesome.

Thanks for letting me know.

Thinking about doing it to my hood... Feels sketchy still, but logic says not.

It's super easy to work with. Just be sure to mask off the areas you don't want dipped, like paint, and go for it. The more coats you do, the easier it is to peel off later.

Wow. I've been reading a lot about it since the post from 3wbdriver. It does look awesome. I'm just wondering at this point if I take off the "4RUNNER" lettering are there any holes? Or is it just plain?

I think plasti dip looks really great don't get me wrong. I did some letters as a test. First time I washed the car, the pointy part on top of the letter "A" came off ever so slightly. If it comes off that easily and you have to keep touching it up, then F that noise.

If I don't plastidip I might leave the 4RUNNER letters off if it looks okay. I'm just wondering if there are holes behind it...

I am going to recommend you take a look at this:

Dupli-Color :: Carbon Fiber Kit

I saw this demo-ed on a car show a while back and was very impressed.

I was going to powder coat my roof rack rails but am seriously thinking about going this route. Done properly it looks fantastic.

I did the "4Runner" on my back hatch, and had a similar problem. It was due to not enough paint/dip. For those raised letters, you have to spray down and up at an angle, so as to get paint on all four sides of the letters.

I can't remember the guys name, but he posted to find this item on eBay. Super cool he did it.

He suggested going to eBay to find "2014-2015 Toyota 4 Runner OEM Emblem Matte Black Out Badge Kit - 11 Piece Kit"

It was there for $80.

Just finishing this thread for later searches.

That would be HookemHorns who found the kit.

I just installed it on mine, and it looks and works great. Made of a strong plastic material, has a nice tight fitment over the stock emblems, and secured via 3M automotive tape for strength. Overall very happy I went this route. I do like plastidip, but have to say this option is a lot nicer and easier to do, and would def recommend it.
