Will 2016 4Runner have BSM as an option?

Hi,
Does anyone know if the 2016 4Runner will have blind spot monitor as an option?
Thank you!

I think they should offer that and the review camera on all models to one up Honda. Or at least add it as an option.

It's a 2007 tech sooooooo..... You will see it on 6th gen mid cycle refresh lol

Back on topic... Would option like this cause issues no trails? I guess tech disable button would fix that.

The 2016 4Runner will NOT have blind spot monitoring as an option. You will have to wait for the 2017 model.

Not that I have knowledge one way or the other, but since I traded a Nissan 370Z in for my TR4...I'm really wondering...WHAT blind spot(s)? When I backed that Z out in a parking lot or changed lanes in heavy traffic, all I could do was I guessed the distances correctly of any vehicles I might hit! Really one of the primary reasons it had to go after 1 year ... and I went for all this glass surrounding me!

@05Runner How could anyone know what the 2016 4Runner will have? None of the dealers will even say when it will be released, much less what it will look like or have.

And Swami, am I going to regret ordering my 2015 TE just two weeks ago? Should I have waited for locking front differentials, air lift shocks and bigger wheels?

If ordering begins on June 1 they better get started with the media release and advertising. June 1 is 7 days from now. The news is ...

why not just do a shoulder check? It has worked for the last 100 years of driving. No reason it doesn't work anymore.

There is no advertising or media release. They sell all they want to with very little marketing.

This question does bring up a question I have been pondering:
We know that one day we will get to self driving cars right? In my mind with all the safety gadgets that are currently on affordable vehicles (wife's CRV Touring has blind spot, back up stop, lane change warning, adaptive cruise and the don't hit people in the ass button) this is just a transition phase from current vehicles to self driving vehicles. My question is "Will manufacturers continue to offer, for lack of a better term, "driver's car" in the future? One that actually will let you control everything? Personally I think they will. It might be specific types like high performance, off road oriented or work vehicles but I think even going eventually driverless a "manual" type vehicle will be offered. Thoughts?

BSM is extra crap to go wrong for people who have not learned proper mirror adjustment technique and/or have not learned/cannot be bothered to learn proper driving technique. After driving countless vehicles of different makes, models, and years the only vehicles that have had large enough blind spots that could not be over come with a combination of proper mirror adjustment and driving technique have been box trucks/vans & extremely long trucks.

Not to mention BSM is annoying, intrusive, and distracting when driving. Too many times it fails to register when it's useful or or gives a lot of false positives that are distracting.

As for being on the 2016, can't say for sure. Could be a price hike for the option if they offer or; but most likely it won't.

Well the general public doesn't know but Toyota knows and how do you know who or what I know. No announcements will be made about the 2016 until Toyota does their standard press release in a few months. the 2016 will be a carryover. Let's see if I'm right

@05Runner

You're right. I don't know what or who you know. That's why I posed the question. And most people who would know what's coming in a new model are sworn to secrecy. At risk of losing their insider's privilege, they won't say anything until it's official.

Yea, I don't see how they can improve on the T4R without going for more power but that would almost certainly mean lower gas mileage. So yes, a carry-over from previous models. Locking front diff's pose problems of their own and bigger tires aren't likely in a vehicle that mostly sees urban and highway driving. Still, the 5th Generation hasn't changed much in 6 years.

The trend in other SUVs is for unibody construction, less power, auto trans with more gears, AWD, and lower profile, not good options for a dedicated off-road truck.

I could see a replacement of the FJ Cruiser somewhere in between the T4R and a Jeep Wrangler. Maybe not this year, but someday.

I think they'll have to, at least as long as any of us will be alive. California will be the first US state to mandate driverless cars and they're a long way from that.

The first step will be designating a robot lane on the freeway, probably the existing HOV lane. Once that happens, I'm guessing 15 to 20 years until nobody is allowed to drive for themselves on the freeway, and restrictions on surface streets will lag even farther behind. I think it'll be a long time until the US population is willing to give up that much vehicular autonomy.
