Cool How do you feel about this undercoat?

$639.43 dealer undercoat.

Yes $639.43.

I Decided to take my new 4R to the dealership for the undercoating before my 4R got it's first salt treatment.

In my haste I chose the same dealership to do my undercoating that originally suggested I install a supercharger in my new 2015 4R.

"Fool me once..."

Well, here is my picture of the overspray all on my skid plate. What do you think?

Yeah that looks like shit and I'm pretty sure the dealership didn't do it in house they probably outsourced it and paid $150 to have it done. And being in NC, is there really a big salt issue? I thought it was more of a concern to those up north.

What do I think? If I paid over 6 bills to get that done I would be pissed. That's just laziness. I would see what the dealer will do for you.

Yeah, that's a pretty shoddy tape/mask job. I would see what they can do about it, for the money you spent I'd be upset. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't bother removing the skid plates to coat it properly.

I would definitely get that shit cleaned up and redone. I told them upfront, I have eyes trained to see imperfections (8+ years detailer, PDR (pointless dent removal technician, paint/body etc) I hope it's done with quality and patience. I left it over night and specifically asked the person at the dealership that I only wanted the person that can do it properly to touch my car. They appreciated my honesty and actually took care of my car. No overspray and my buddy who happens to be a technician there texted me pictures of it getting done. Came out good. Here are a few pics.

On your pro. I would definitely complain on the lack of masking and quality of the undercoating, most of all overspray.

Yes, huge salt issue here. It doesn't take to many days driving on the beach to rust yourself out without proper care.

HAHAHAHAHAH. Absolutely and good point.

Honestly I kept wondering if I was just being a bit of a tight wad, but at the same time I kept thinking I wouldn't ever deliver work like this to a customer. It's crappy. Then I would think well this thing is my baby and maybe I am must being sensitive then I would think no they are just demonstrating another indication they can't provide good service.

I cleaned it with acetone though. Most of it is gone. It just took a bunch of elbow grease. I'm really done messing with those guys unless it's something super simple.

Good advice. I only saw the one pictures, but I should have educated myself better before asking for the service. But if I'm going to educate myself on everything so much before paying someone to do it then I should just do it myself... I'll eventually learn.

One last pic.

I looked under my Pro when it was on the lift. I have undercoating on the whole bottom of the frame. Nuts and bolts for the suspension are still accessible. I'll take a picture next time it's on the lift. Good luck.

Yes sir. I'm in Virginia Beach. I had it done at Priority Toyota. Why did I get it done? I plan on going through some trails, OBX etc...in the near future. Last time I went with some buddies who happen to have lifted toyotas. I felt left out. Lol

What was the name of the product they had used? I use a product called Noxudol and it requires an actual spray gun with an air line to be used to apply it. It drives pretty quickly and the texture when dried is somewhat rubbery/plastic like. A lot of businesses will just use an aerosol can labeled "undercoating" spray.
