I would like to get rid of the boring oem license plate bulbs and go with something better. Any pictures or recommendations? Should I go with Philips bulbs?

This eBay led kit has all of the led bulbs you need to make all of your bulbs shiny bright and fancy bluish white. It includes the license plate bulbs.
I went with some LEDs from superbrightled.com for the license plate lights. While they are definitely brighter (and a pure white color like the Lexus), they tend to reflect off the white paint and make the backup cam look sort of slightly hazy at night. Nothing that I can't put up with but it's definitely there. I installed the same LEDs in my black 4th gen but there is no glare in the backup cam from them.
I've done LED as well, just make sure they are not too long. I had to go through3 sets before I found a set that was short enough to fit but was still nice and bright.

I would recommend the Philips Blue Vision 194 T10 bulbs. They are bright and mostly white with only a tiny hint of blue. (rated at 6000K)

I bought the Xenondepot Phillips LED bulbs for the license plate bulbs and they look great at night. I like it because it runs with lower power and are brighter. The LED bulbs are the same ones you would use for the vanity mirror doors and map lights. Go for it! super easy to install just unscrew two screws and pull bulbs out. I also replaced my back up lights with the Xenondepot Phillips bulbs both the license plate bulb and back up light bulbs caused no glare on my rearview camera instead they made the camera look like it was a night vision camera it picks up a lot of detail in reverse pitch black.
