LED headlight question

For you guys that have gone to LED conversions...

I understand the 5th gen LE and possibly the SR5 comes with DRL where it's essentially the high beams running at reduced voltage so it's much dimmer.

So what happens when you "upgrade" to LEDs and run the LED's? How do they perform at reduced voltage?

From what I've read, they will flicker. Most likely from a side view, not head on.

I have absolutely zero experience here though. Is just what I've read.

I bought my LED lights from xenondepot and it doesnt use fans for cooling onliy cooling fins so straight bulb change and good to go. When the LeD is on in DRL mode it flickers but only in peripheral vision not straight on in bright mode it is just normal. You will not notice the flicker unless you turn your head side ways it works great. I live in vegas and it has been over 100 degrees for two weeks and no problems.

If you can perceive a "flicker," there's a problem. Certainly the least you could expect is significantly reduced LED driver/chip life...

These LED kits appear to be priced in the same range as HID (if not higher).

Are they worth the price of HIDs are the way to go off spending $150 on "upgrade"? Last time I checked the comparisons, LEDs were not much brighter and whiter than OEM lights and light was getting lost quicker than with stock. Am I out of date on it?

You would need to use a Canbus Fix if the light is also used as a DRL. This is because LED's cant run at a reduced voltage which results in flickering. When you install the canbus adapter, the light will just work at normal power when in DRL mode and won't flicker.
