6112 Question

I just read up on the Bilstein 6112's and was wondering if the spring and shock combo is much stiffer than the stock spring with 5100's.
I installed the 5100's and like the ride but if I could get rid of a little more brake dive without lifting it I would be happy. Not sure if the extra cost is worth it.

Anyone go from the 5100's to the 6112's and did it make a big difference?

Thanks

They are definitely stiffer and give you the option to retain the stock height. Although most run 5160s, several people on here are running 6112s up front and 5100s in the back, mostly with 2" rear coils however. Theres a thread called "when will the 6112 be released?" or something that details a lot of this.

I read through that thread but didn't see any specific comparison from going from the stock spring with 5100's to the 6112's and if there was a big difference between the two. Trying to see if it is worth the swap.

The 5100's are good but I was looking for better but I need to justify the cost and ensure I can match the rear spring/shock combo.

From what I've read there is still some brake dive with the 6112's. It's obviously better than stock however it is still present. As to how much of a difference there is from 5100's to the 6112's who knows. I honestly don't think it's worth all the hassle and money just to try to fix the nose dive. My 2 cents.

the ROI would be negligible. Not sure if bilstein has HDs for the 4runner but that would stiffen the ride without lifting

I still get some brake dive, but it is MUCH improved over the original shock/springs.

Thanks I know there is a big difference from stock to 6112s but I would like to hear from someone that went from 5100s to 6112s. I like my 5100s and I'm trying to see if the cost of now buying 6112s is worth it. Looking for someone who has done it.

I went from stock (OEM shocks are 40.00 a shock POS! I never understood why Toyota put those on a T4R anyway) to TRD/Bilstein Off-Road Shocks that came off of a friends FJ Trail Team and it was a very noticeable difference in a good way...

Then I went from those to 6112/5160's and again, a VERY noticeable difference.

I think there are some here that have made the transition you are talking about and have been pleasantly surprised.
They just need to post up......

What did you upgrade to from the 6112/5160's? I need new shocks but I already have heavy duty OME coils up front and medium in the rear so I get pretty much zero nose dive. Seems like the jump from good to great includes the coils which I don't need.
