Looking at getting back into a 4Runner

I had one...then I stumbled across too good of a deal to pass up ...and now I have seller's remorse (made a TRD Pro thread a while back which somehow managed to blow up to 3 pages)

Here's what I'm looking at:

2016 TE-Premium, Black, KDSS, NO Sliding Tray (hated that thing) ~$41k MSRP

TRD Pro Appearance Package: $5,236 Installed

I really don't have any questions...I think I have all the information I need to make a decision and now it's all about if I really need to look like a TRD Pro or if that bit of pure vanity is worth an extra $5k. At the bare minimum I would opt for the TRD Rims / Destination AT tires...which would still leave me with brand new stockers as spares.

10 week order lead time.

That's the rub of it all. What is the price of vanity.

Its all about convenience. If you want the appearance pkg then by all means go for it. You could DYI for much cheaper tho. Personally 5k is way too much for the looks, but in the end it's your money.

Since you're in the Army, get the quicksand TRD Pro. It'll fit right in on the base.

Looking at getting back into a 4Runner

So what changed you mind to get back in a 4Runner? What did you have before? Why didn't you like it? Why don't you like the sliding tray? Figured I'd ask before you get flamed by the brigade of sarcastic remarks about why you had to start a whole new thread over nothing.

So much for being able to find that important information on sliding trays

Sliding tray just uses too much valuable real estate and in the end isn't all that useful.

I retired from the Army and bought my wife a Suburban for family duty. I took a job 190 miles away from home and knew that I would be commuting back and forth each week and thought the Explorer Sport would be more friendly for gas economy and what not. While it's been pretty darn comfortable...mornings like this past Monday morning where I ran into two instances of interstate closures have made driving a sporty ute...less than desirable. The inability to "go offroad" even if it's just over grass and down an and up a small embankment is maddening.

For all the quirkiness of the 4Runner that was annoying...the utility is greatly missed.

Typing out this thread made me realize that I know what the answer is.

The answer is no TRD Pro appearance modifications. I will get the rims / tires through in stock ride height.

Thanks guys.
