So this week Chicago had snow and iced up roads. I will say these handle better than KO2s but not as good as defenders. Looks like I'll be storing winter summer tires again. where can I find Pro rims cheap?

Couple questions.... Why would the E rated 10 ply 285/70r17s weigh almost 4 pounds less than the C rated, 6 ply? That doesn't make sense to me.
Those running 285/70r17s, out of the 3 options, which did you choose?
I am running the 265/70r17s in the SL now, and would like to go up to 33s. Seriously considering staying with the SL 285/70 and only gaining 4 pounds a tire doing so. Are these 4 ply SLs going to be a mistake when wheeling?

Cant answer the weight difference but regarding SL vs Es, a few folks here have used their P offroad to great success. I personally use E though and havent had any gripes with their on-road comfort. Im sure P would be smoother though

Joined the Falken club, waiting on Delivery
So went with 255/80/17s Wildpeaks on Cyber Monday w/ Discount Tire. Also had them price match the tires at $162 per tire. So a solid deal, along with some mail in rebates to boot.
They arrive tomorrow and I feel like they are going on tomorrow as well. LOL

I had some seriously long nights figuring out which way to go with my ratings but landed on the SLs in 285/70-17 given their light weight and my previous good experiences with SL. Since then, I have zero complaints about my choice. Granted I don’t pile many miles on, I have just under 5,000 miles on my set now and they’ve been incredible off road. I bought just before load range C was released. From a peace of mind standpoint, I may have considered C more closely but I also would have suffered a great deal of everyday agility with the significant increase in weight. That unsprung weight is no joke. You feel it.
I have not been at all disappointed with off road performance in any way, which is where my biggest concern was with SL. I air mine down to 30 and they’ve been just fine. If they continue to perform this well I’d purchase SL again and never look back. I’ve been off road maybe 10 times, maybe more. These clear mud better than they should for an AT and the one time I got stuck, I was getting stuck no matter what since I bottomed out in a mud pit that was literally clay. They’re great and if anyone’s on the fence, I’d pull the trigger. I’m yet to be disappointed.

Just crossed the 1k miles offroad mark on my E rated 265/70s. (13k total)
Been super happy with the grip they have provided!

These have performed amazing in two snow runs so far this winter. The second snow run I was pushing snow with my skid and had absolutely no issues with these tires.

Trying to weed through this thread to find my answer but seem to have issue with the server as some pages Are notloading
Anyways the stock 265 P rated tires seem 10% Heavier than most A/t tires. Most are around 40 and these are 45/46 lbs.
Don’t need real aggressive tread mainly for snow and some mud. I about 75% highway with 25k a year mileage so concerned on gas mileage. Any input? 1mph loss would be pretty expensive over a year

I'm looking at these Falkens:
265/70R17 SL 4 Ply 31.7 Height 10.8 Width 46.5 lbs.
They are only 4 ply but with not too much off-roading I think they would be fine. They are a lot lighter than the LT's.

I’ve had my wildpeaks on for a month now and love the setup. Went from stock limited wheels and tires to FN fivestars and 265/70 wildpeaks in a P. I debated for awhile about going to a 275/70 LT but so happy I decided against it and stuck with the 265/70 P.
My gas mileage in the limited has increased from 16.8 mpg to 17.2 mpg. This is most likely due to the weight savings from the wheels. Limited wheels are insanely heavy. Playing around with pressures now to see what I like best.
