I surprised you were able to get it to do down into the depression for the window switch. I'm not sure that I want to do all of the doors, so right now I'm thinking paint but nice to see what you did. Do you have experience doing wraps?

Hi EEEliminator,

I was in the same bad spot a while back. I needed to add two push button switches to the center console for isolating the two mono-block power amps that drive the subwoofers. While drilling the switch holes I accidentally damaged the trim panel which costs about $470 bucks at the time; that was out of the question for a piece of trim. So now I was committed to repairing it:

BEFORE

After

Here's a link to the 'CONSOLE REFINISHING' thread: Refinishing your center console's 'upper trim panel' Hope this helps!

Cheers

Looks like you replied while I was typing my reply, thanks for the pics and info!

Also wanted to add a thanks for sharing your mistake. I've personally never owned one of those stepped bits, but have been tempted too purchase them in the pat as I've had a friend how loved using them. Lesson learned!

Well as far as the 'Uni-bit' goes that's the right tool for making a hole with a rather large diameter. The problem was that even though I used tape to mark the proper cutting size, when it punched through it immediately started beveling for the next size hole... I should have cut it from the underside to avoid that!

PS: "...my BIGGEST fails end up being responsible for some of my strongest insights!"

Cheers!
