Noise/rattle from Thule box

Hi,

I recently purchased a used Thule Force Alpine from CL. It's about a year old, like new, perfect condition, exactly the same as new ones currently sold.
I attached it to factory cross bars and it fit very well; not interfering with tailgate and not totally obstructing the sunroof. The raised center of the box makes it fit very well, snug. I am totally happy with its added space and utility.

It is clamped down very well - it's not moving at all. And there is no wind-noise. So far, so good.

But there is a rattle when I hit even the smallest of potholes. The rattle seems to come from the box itself, plastic-on-plastic noise, which so far has been empty - it's only been a few days. Has anyone experienced that?

I bought some Home Depot weather stripping which I plan to put between the top and bottom shells. Should I look to put something between the cross-bars and the bottom of the box, too? If so, can anyone recommend anything?
Did anyone else have a similar issue?

Thanks!

got to home depot and get some 3M foam weatherstipping and run it around the lip of the lower box portion... that way when you close the top is won't move.

I put the Home Depot weatherstripping all around the rim of the bottom section of the box. That did not work amazingly well as I got wide 1.25" weatherstripping and it was interfering with opening/closing/locking of the box. I had to take it all off, cut into into smaller pieces and reapply it.

Then I took the remainder of the weatherstripping and inserted it between the box and the crossbars.

The result - nothing! Silence!

Thanks, Simpleman74.
