Spiral Cable (Clock Spring)

Airbag light came on recently, mechanic just tested and came back noting the spiral cable needs to be replaced. (Light comes on when turning the wheel)

Dealer price $600!!! anyone know of another cheaper option? Used one not an option.

Apparently there are only 10 available in the country, or so the dealership says!

Nope. Stick with brand new OEM parts for safety components.

Get the part and replace it yourself. Air bags aren't hard. Mechanics get to charge like $50 a bolt for air bag work. It's crazy.

I'd use OEM parts the worst thing is not having your air bag deploy during a accident (knock on wood) Have you checked with your local dealer? Some airbag components may be under a 5/60 warranty

Order the part from Camelback Toyota and note that you're a on this forum, should be one of the cheapest prices online. Better yet, just call the guy.

Try to fix it yourself first. I had a 2003 Tacoma and I took the clock spring apart and soldered some loose connections. All was good after that.

It's a 2010? Do you still have your Warranty Coverage pamphlet that came with the vehicle? I would think the Spiral Cable falls under Restraints warranty?

Been a while but did you ever fix it and how so? I have a 2011. No lights came on but my horn stopped working. Dealer said it's almost a grand to fix it.
