All functions work in Carista, so if you see it, they should work, so long as you have that option (such as having a sunroof, etc).

The good:
Easier to use than the techstream, seeing that you don't have to deal with having a pc.

Android ties into cheap ELM327 with this app, so cost is relatively cheap.

Reads and erases all codes, including some that don't show up in other apps (such as torque).

The bad:
App is incredibly slow to connect! Timed at 3:46 to initially connect.

App will NOT stay connected to obd2 adapter. You have to pull it, plug it back in, then wait for security code to come up before it will connect and set your parameters.

Reads codes extremely slow! 4:24 to reach 100%. To erase codes, click erase, then pull adapter, then plug back in, then enter security code from adapter (1234), then it will erase. Same process for each and every setting, unless you set them within 10 seconds of the last setting, so it disconnects within 10 seconds from the adapter.

While its not overly expensive, its not an app that you will use on a regular basis. It doesn't monitor any of the vehicle's information, aside from overheating (which I did not confirm whether its working).

I think its a bit overpriced for what it does, but there's nothing for the android that I know of that does the same thing, and its nice to be able to change something when you're on the road and without a pc and the TIS cable/software.

Personally, I think its better to just get the TIS cable/software, for the money you spend going that route, you at least get to program keys and do a lot more than Carista.

Just my own opinion though, maybe other adapters work better than mine, I'm still using the see-thru blue ELM327, ver. 1.5, adapter.

Ah the ever-so-elusive "Interior Footlight"

So far I have only found one car in Toyota's lineup that has that option... a Rav4 (LC must have it too)

The problem I have with the techstream software is I use all apple products and don't have access to an old laptop running windows xp just for this purpose. To me, that is the appeal of the carista.

The Windows down feature with the unlock and lock buttons.....
Is that only with the smart remote or does this work for the regular remote as well?

It works on the standard remote, I have it working on my SR5 model. Just wish you could put it up too, but that's not an option, aside from putting the key in the driver's door lock and holding it.

That's a bummer that you can't roll it back up either.
Does it roll all windows down or just the back window?

I rarely use the feature, actually, and I don't recall the rear glass rolling down. Maybe it does, but I really don't recall it doing that. I know that it rolls the fronts down first, then the 2nd row doors come on a second or two after.

There's a thread about this feature being bad when you have your keyfob in your pocket and its rainy/snowy outside! Someone had theirs open all the windows while it was raining as the keyfob's button was depressed in his pocket.

Because I never really use the feature, I've turned it off completely.

All, including sunroof if you have it.

I was in the same boat having retired all Windows operating systems in my household. I considered buying a cheap, used PC to run Techstream, but after a little poking around on the web, I was pleased with how quickly I was able to get it working on my Mac with VirtualBox. It seems somewhat laggy and clunky running it this way through VirtualBox, but having no previous experience with Techstream, it's an acceptable solution for me.

I am very satisfied with Carista. I'm using it with a cheap veepeak VP-01 OBD connector I got on Amazon, and my Ipad. The app connected immediately and downloaded all the available customized settings......no more than 20 seconds. I made quite a few changes, and each saved within 5 seconds. No need to disconnect/reconnect the adaptor each time. I went right from one setting to the next. In the end, I tested each of the changes, and they all stuck. Considering $16 for the adaptor and $20 for the app, I couldn't be happier.

No more seat belt warnings and eco light. Windows roll down with remote and with finger on handle. Lock chirp is much quieter. AC does not come on each time I press the auto button, doors all lock/unlock together, etc. Lots of great customizable settings.

Just got a Carista module for my birthday, purchased the "pro" upgrade in the App so I could apply changes to my vehicle. Made a few changes, but the ONE change that I really wanted this for doesn't appear to be available (or maybe I'm just not paying attention close enough).

UNLOCK ALL DOORS AT THE SAME TIME

My wife is about to kill me b/c I always forget to double click the remote to unlock all doors and I leave her hanging on the passenger side as well as the kiddos. Please tell me this is possible?

I see post above mine where someone mentions this IS possible, but it appears its on a Limited, whereas, I'm in a TRDPRO. Thoughts?

UNLOCK ALL DOORS AT THE SAME TIME
I just got my new 4Runner, and used the Carista app yesterday, too. I was also disappointed to see that I couldn't set the one tap to unlock all doors. Same deal, someone reaches for the door handle when they hear the first beep and it isn't unlocked.

Not possible. There's a thread somewhere about this not being an added feature.

The windows down feature using the remote only rolls down the side windows on my '14 TEP. The sunroof and rear glass do not go down. My coworker with a '16 SR5 Premium is the same. She did however have an option for auto headlights and said that the headlights now come on automatically at night.

Rolls all of my windows down 15' SR5. I love having it for camping so I can turn the horribly obnoxious beeping when locking/unlocking off while were in the woods then back on when its mall crawling.
