I appreciate the additional photo. Good looking setup, I really need to stop being lazy and finish mine.

Inch should be sufficient to allow the air to pass though the coil… the last photo it almost looks like it was flush / sealed. Lack of airflow would reduce heat transfer efficiency. Not the end of the world, but you would see increased power consumption, similar to how the fridge would react in a sealed car on a hot day. Still works, just uses more power.

I did some power consumption testing in the past… now I feel like doing a 24 hr run test with blocked vents to get a real world number on how much more power it would actually consume.

Starting with a warm fridge, in a 24 hour period at about 75F ambient, with two large bottles of water inside the fridge used 360 watt hours (30 amps hours @ 12v) of juice. I thought that was pretty good.

We're currently working on another drawer build video. This one is aimed more towards those with little or no woodworking experience and only simple tools. The design is pretty simple and comes in around $100 for materials.

I just finished one 2 drawer system on the factory slide tray. I used carriage bolts to attach it to the tray.

Nice, I like the folding table storage.

I always take a folding table and its generally a PITA. I ended up getting a flat rack / roof rack because of that.

Lightweight plastic drawer for food. Kitchen in one drawer and tools in the other. Love this set up. Drawers were made by a buddy of baltic birch.

Theft Protection & Locking Hardware

I have been considering storage drawers and this thread is giving me some great ideas for custom building my own. Initially I looked at Truck Vault and ARB drawers. I like that Truck Vault has beefy drawer lock hardware and drawer faces that look insanely strong. I do carry expensive items on trips, and would want to build a drawer that couldn't be ripped open so easily. I'm curious what some of you have done in your custom storage to beef up the theft protection on your drawers. I could see a plywood drawer face being easily pried off if not protected properly.

Thanks!

What kind of latch did you use to secure the drawer/pull out table?

I tried to zoom in and was unable to.

Thanks!

I just spent the better part of my weekend at Home Depot buying supplies for a drawer / sleeping platform build.
