Earlier this year I wasn't able to complete my trip across the Mojave Desert because of a water crossing. With the winter rains it was deeper than usual and I unfortunately watched the truck in front of me hydrolock his engine. After that experience I said never again and bought an ARB snorkel.

Installed it this weekend and it was pretty straightforward. The instructions were great but drilling and cutting up your a-pillar and fender isn't for the faint of heart! On to the pics:

With the help of @cutty01 (owe you big time) and another friend we hammered out a bunch of mods yesterday. Installed a Pelfreybilt aluminum front bumper, Warn 8000-S winch and Baja Designs LED wide cornering lamps. Had some complications with the center S8 driving light that I will need to sort out. All in all a productive day.

Should be done modding for a bit :P

Sweet scenery. I do some riding here in Texas but nothing close to your terrain.

Tell me about it. I'm from the east coast (NYC) and in just a couple of years have had the opportunity to ride Moab, Sedona AZ, Oregon and British Columbia. The west is best for MTB/4x4

Been prepping the truck for a trip across the Mojave Desert. So had a chance to finally wire up my 30” Baja Designs S8 bar with S2 Sports all linked up to an sPod SE. the light output is amazing and I️ was totally blown away how great the sPod works. Decided to mount the control panel right underneath the driver side vent which made in cabin wiring a bit simpler. Happy with the results!

Just finished installing your shocks. Seem pretty good to me so far. Only thing i don’t like is that the rear feels softer than the front with my t12 springs. I thought it would be stiffer. I am about level as well. If you need help let me know so i can also check out your setup

Glad my shocks found a great home! Surprised by your comment about how soft the 5160s are. I have 3rd row seats (100 lbs) + a bike rack (30-40lbs) and never felt it was that soft. I'm running Icon 2" coils in the back. Thanks for the offer for help! I think I'm done with upgrades this year but will take you up on the offer if that changes.

Hit me up if you ever want to join on a trip. Will be embarking for Mojave -> Sedona -> Death Valley on Friday!

I just found your build thread. Excellent work! I would like to know how you secured your Maxsa Buddy Escaper board to the rack. Could you post some picture showing that? Are they locked?

I have a flat rack so I am worried about some noise and drag since these boards don't stack together.

Thanks! I'm ashamed to admit that they are attached to my rack via two ratchet straps. They don't stack up like Maxtraxx so I didn't see any value in trying to build a custom mount. Waiting for them to break or get stolen and will probably move to Maxtraxx since (4) stacked MTs are the same height or less than (2) stacked Maxsa Buddies!

I am also on the fence about what to do with them. Either build a custom mounting solution for them, or get Maxtrax instead. I wanted to save a bit but now I worry if I would end up paying more at the end. Will see. Thanks!

Just read your trip report, it looked awesome!

What headlights did you end up going with? I was looking at some of them on rockauto.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I went with used OEM headlights with retrofitted HID bulbs from XenonDepot. Don't waste your time on aftermarket headlights. They are supposed to be outright dangerous in terms of how bad the projectors are. You can pick up a set of used headlights for under $250 on ebay!
