Help with direct wiring a CB.

Hey gang. I recently installed a CB in my passenger foot well area. I chose the spot because it's relatively out of the way and I can still put the passenger seat fully forward when I'm sleeping in the cargo area.

My first try was to splice the power and ground to a cigarette light adapter and plug it into the rear of the center console, running the wire between the console and seat. This works for power, however when I turn the fan up now in the cabin, I'm getting a ton of noise being generated, I can literally watch my Rx level go up as I turn the fan speed up.

I'm thinking it might be because I have the power running right next to the coax for the antenna. So this brings me to my question. I'd like to tap into switched power somewhere around the rear of the CB and run ground to chassis. Does anyone have any idea of where I should start looking for a good source? I was thinking I could run the wire up behind the glove compartment, but I don't know where to install a vampire tap, or if that's even the best option.

Thanks in advance.

I went directly to the battery. Best place to tie into for 12v live outlet
Maybe your CB is different but mine always goes back to channel 9 when the power is turned off and I would sometimes forget to put it back on the station we are using.
