I installed yesterday as well. Just when I thought I was done spending for a while I learn the best fix to the whistling that my wife mentions is a light bar.
Being a good husband, I have to solve her problem by throwing a light bar in. Darn.

Have you considered installing agressive tires to mask the sound?

Cross Bars
Wind noise update: So removing the cross bars made a huge difference. Now to play with positioning because I hate to leave them off permanently. If anyone has found the sweet spot... Share the love.

There looks to be a 2 inch difference bw front and rear height. Hope that helps answer your question.

Just got my Gobi Stealth and installed it. Just by asking, Gobi made the front cross bar the same height as the rest if the rack, "no rise" is what they call it. So when I load 12'6" or 14' SUP boards, the front bar doesn't interfere with the "flatness" of the boards. Also helps when I carry 21 foot surf skis. I tested it without the fairing and it was quiet up to 60, then got a roar sound. So I put my fairing on, with some paddle board rail tape under it to protect the paint. Quiet enough, but I can hear my kayak saddles a little. The sunroof slider seems to make the mouse imperceptible.

I've had a few different racks on my 5th Gen and I found in all cases that if I removed the wind deflector I had much less sound, whistle, bufferting (sp). Even with a load of gear it was better. This is on an sr5p with sunroof. Might be worth a try.

For paddle boards I strongly recommend this...
http://www.amazon.com/Thule-810-Stan.../dp/B004OTZ6F2
My buddy has one and I get very jealous of it as I'm strapping down on my Dakine pads. Also, if you're just looking for a rack to clear the fin on back with your boards just add some Thule or Yakima bars with the rack attachment in the link (it will save you $1k). If you have other intentions with the rack or cash to spend enjoy the big boy racks!

Wingsuit, would you mind posting some additional pictures of your ride with that no rise Gobi? I'm in the market and I like your thinking. Would love to see some different views if possible. I would think the lack of rise in the front would lower the noise signature.....thx

I really dig the no rise look! Now it's either this, or a frontrunner slimline... decisions decisions...
