14 trail skid plate bolts broke :(
Well did the oil change this weekend and the first 2 bolts snapped.. The others came out fine. Soooo I am guessing previous owner over-tightened these.
I have heard of people tapping and putting in larger screws.
Whats everyone suggestion?
Tap and replace stock, or tap and put in bigger ones.

the EXACT same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago, luckily it was only one of the front bolts... TRD skid plate on order, problem solved!

try a Screw extractor set... once you get it seated, attach a ratchet and or break bar to pop them loose.

I put on my lift in December and had this same issue. Snapped one of the front bolts off while taking the bolt out! I just figured the bolt had issues. I took that little piece off, drilled the center and used an small ez out. It worked like a charm and no damaged threads! I wasn't aware that the skid plate bolted up any differently?

14 trail skid plate bolts broke :(
I snapped a front one off a while back too. I drilled it out and ran a larger bolt through with a nut on the back as I was pressed for time. I ended up replacing the support that it bolts into.

It's not the skid plates issue. It's the locking bolts they put on. Great bolts thin skid plate.

I know is wasn't the skids fault but instead of drilling out all the holes and tapping them again I just went with a beefier skid. Used it as a excuse to talk the wife into approving the purchase.
