Odyssey 31M vs. 31

Hi all,

I've been looking to pick up an Odyssey 31M-PC2150ST-M Trolling Thunder but have had trouble sourcing one locally. One of the local battery shops does carry the Odyssey Extreme HEPPC2150S.

https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/heppc2150s

It appears that the specs on the two batteries are the same except that the 31M has the four posts and the 31 has two posts.

Extreme Series Battery Specifications ? ODYSSEY battery

Does anyone know of any reason to specifically go for the marine version? It seems that is what everyone goes after but if there is a truck version of that battery then I am not sure why. Are there any differences that I am missing?

Thanks in advance.

It gives you additional places to mount accessory wiring.

It appears from the specs that that is exactly right. I can't find any other differences except that the 31 is slightly physically larger than the 31M, which doesn't make much sense to me.

In any event, if the extra posts are the only real difference then I'd say the 31 would suit me just fine.
