Rocky Mountain Overland, is a Denver-based overlanding group. On Saturday April 9, 2016 we are offering a free class on backcountry communications and static display of vehicles & equipment. We did this last year and demystified ham radio for literally dozens for offroaders. The helped people understand what the advantages of VHF & UHF ham radio are, how to select a radio and antenna, how to get licensed etc. There is also an element on APRS which is a great integration of GPS-based mapping and radio. In 2015, we had around 75 hardcore overlanders, many of whom went on to get licensed.
Would love to make it out but have a prior obligation. I cruise to your website occasionally and read the forum there to see what's happening, schedule is just to crazy to meet up lately.
