Mounted on Friday, sand tested on Saturday, love the looks and performance of the tire...
Do you have a lift on your 4runner. I ask because I’m planning on buying the same size and tire. I just wanted to see how they look on a stock suspension

Mild lift below is the suspension I put together with help from Mike at Dobinson's...

After everything settled it is almost 1" lift all around, still maintains slight factory rake and does not require upper or lower control arms. The suspension really tightened up the truck and reduced brake dive and squat when loaded or hooked up to a trailer. I highly recommend...

Enjoy

I wheel and drive in colorado. Several of my 4runner friends, including myself, have sworn off ridge grapplers ever again. they just are not a good tire in snow/ice.

This EXACTLY is the reason I ditched mine within 30 days.

They were plain AWFUL in the snow. I saw a video on YouTube where a runner couldn’t even climb a small snow covered hill and was like, these tires are great!

Hell no. If you drive on snow, do not buy these. They’re great in a lot of respects but I’m glad someone else shared a similar experience as me.

They aren't terrrrrrible... however they aren't amazing either. I haven't had an issue with them here in Colorado but I also haven't really gone snow wheeling yet with them either.

My snow experience was just on the road. Before that experience, I rode on KO2s and Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws and, driving the same way with the RGs as with the above mentioned tires, had the single scariest moments in my Runner ever. With my family on board, that sealed the RG’s fate and they were gone.

I know they’re not snowflake rated but still...They were new and they absolutely let me down. It’s too bad because they rode quietly, did amazing off road and seemed like an overall good tire but I demand better performance in the snow than these are willing to offer. Just my two cents.

depends on what you are looking for. Wildpeaks seem to be pretty popular and get good reviews. Stt pros have a pretty big following. A lot of people are happy with the Km3. I have milestars ok my first gen and have considered trying them on my 5th. But still with ridge grapplers so far

Looks like @Seattle206 had the same experience as you in the snow with the Nitto RG's. So far what I've heard is that they suck in rain, suck in the snow so essentially they're only good on dry pavement and dry desert roads.

Yes, the RG's were absolutely horrible in deep snow. Spent an entire day offroading in high elevation with steep inclines/declines. 12psi didn't help either. The RG's might be okay with a little dusting on pavement but I wouldn't attempt any trails with deeper snow.

They did amazing the in the mud...especially considering they’re an AT. So they have their place.

No single tire is perfect for everything. That being said, I expect an all terrain to do well in any given situation and these just don’t.

I went back to the Falken AT3W and they never fail to impress. Very strongly considering the Falken MT01 just because my wheeling is going to get more intense but honestly, the Falkens have been better in every way over these. Just my honest opinion.

RG Consensus Good for Dry?

Hello all. Great info here. I am trying to help my buddy decide what to go to next. My 4R has P rated Toyo AT II and pretty happy with them. Can't say I've really had them in the dirt almost at all though. My buddy with a 100 Series wants to go from a vanilla tire to the RG. I told him mine are nice and quiet but he wants something more aggressive.

Sounds like the Ridge Grappler is good for the So Cal driving conditions correct?

Will be more noise than the AT II? Anyone actual made that swap?

I'm in southern Utah where it snowed once 10 years ago. By early afternoon everyone's lawn had carrots and tophats in puddles. RGs seem like a perfect match for me. I've read they're good in sand. Anyone have any experiences to the contrary?
