My luck is they'll be welded in there at 120k... I only drive this thing on weekends and trips so it only sees about 7000 miles a year, I may go ahead and replace them at 60k. I remember there wasn't any anti-seize on the original set I pulled out of the Tundra.

How Toyota mechanics could get this job done on a lifted 4R? They probably hire 6-year old cuties like yours, so they can stand on top of the engine!!!

LOL! Love that your daughter got in there and wrenched on the 4runner! And sorry to hear you're cursed with an odyssey like me too!
One question though, #2 plug looked a bit wet on the threads, you notice any oil in the hole by chance? Wondering if the cover's rubber seal is starting to leak a bit into the plug galley. Happened on the 1UZ I'm building, two of the holes were oily when I pulled the heads and inspected the galleys, the rest had either rust or some white corrosion (think the sleeves are aluminized steel, similar to exhaust pipe material).
Glad you're teachin' her about how engines work! My son is (sporadically!) helping with the 1UZ swap on the supra, at 12 years old, he's getting a good education on how everything works and goes together!
Assembly lube on the cams!

Thanks Chris- Yup, it's really fun working with her in the garage and she loves it! We have to enjoy these moments while we can!
Seeing your son there reminds me of me when I was a kid helping my dad rebuild transmissions, carbs and the occasional engine rebuild (all in our basement, lol). My Dad called me a "gopher" because my job was to go for this tool and go for that part...I didn't graduate to an "equal partner" till I was about 16. Awesome memories.
That plug does look wet in the photo but they were all dry when I pulled them. Maybe it's just one of my epic photos...

Time will cure this! I drove an Odyssey during the last eigth years, then I got my 4Runner TE... At last.
The Odyssey was great for family trips; we went from Montreal QC to Vancouver BC, then Los Angeles CA, and back. In total 17388 km in 31 days. The 4R would be a bit too small for this.

Added to stickies. Brings back memories of my now 24/yo daughter when she was doing helping me like that with me back in the day! She just refinished her dining room table (I had to help a bit on the stain and Polyurethane) over Memorial Day weekend. Teach them young and they will be ready for the world. Great job Jeff!

Jeff - you are wise to recognize the need to enjoy those special moments with kids. I make sure to include my two daughters (now 12 and 15) in occasional hands-on projects, home or auto related. They get to learn how to use various tools and we share the unique experiences and accomplishments that they do not have with anyone else in their young lives.
And nice write up, of course!

Thanks for all the compliments guys!
Grace keeps asking me how many "Likey's" she has- she gets a kick outta that.
PS- I love our Honda Odyssey- wife hates it. It does everything right for a family and then some...

@ Antman
Well done Jeff. I really enjoyed it.
I have one suggestion: get Gracie her own (pink) gloves.
Is it me? Does she resemble
@ Titanpat57
just a little? Maybe it's just me ... yeah I'm sure it's just me ... NM.
