Question about trd exhaust tip

I couldn't really find a for sure answer if the trd exhaust tip that comes with the trd exhaust makes any difference in sound. I have one laying around and was planning on welding it after I get a muffler put on. To clarify its the trd exhaust tip that comes welded on the exhaust itself

I guess a better way to ask this question is does having the tip or exhaust exit to the side enhances the sound? Reason I ask is the tip was off my friends Tacoma sounded great then he decided to do an exhaust dump n it was barely noticeable anymore

No, out the side vs. back won't make a difference. I can see dumping it behind the rear axle towards the ground may made a minor difference in perceived sound.

For what's its worth I have mine dumped after the rear axle angled toward the ground and rear passenger tire and didn't notice a bit of difference (granted its still all stock components)

If you want a different sound, change the muffler ,not the tip or where the exhaust exits.
