TRD Pro shocks with KDSS

My question is... Do you lose any functionality at all running these shocks with KDSS? Or is it going to run exactly the same? Any issues running higher speeds off-road? Etc...

Would love to hear from those that are actually running this setup if there is anyone, as there's way too many back and forth opinions of what people think vs. facts with the threads I read concerning this.

I'm running TRD pro shocks on my 2016 and the ride is great... It helps with body roll at higher speeds. Low end off road performance and feels softer in 4 low

2016 TR4 w/KDSS with mods and more to come....

Prototype BroPRO had KDSS.

Curious, why would you put these shocks on. Are you getting them at a killer price?

As far as high speed offroad goes, KDSS is going to be stiff in those conditions. It is just part of the design and I doubt anyone could argue against that. Low speed is a different story.

KDSS isn't really designed for pre-running or high speed stuff

Do people buy 4Runners for high speed pre-running? No.

Low to mid speed trails are no problem for KDSS 4Runners!!!

That's funny. It is exactly designed for higher speeds and unlocks at lower speeds.

While I would tend to agree the big fat piggy wasn't really intended to rally it holds its own up to a point.

It's not designed for high speed off road, it's designed to give good off road performance and good performance and speed on road

Correct.

A stiff swaybar is not what you want for high speed offroad. And when I say high speed... I'm talking anything other than 4L.

THE OP specifically asked.

Thanks for the replies.

Regarding high speed off-roading, I'm not envisioning running side by side with a Raptor, though I would assume a TRD Pro wouldn't be too far behind considering the shock diameters and tuning aren't much different. What I am looking for is the ability to take on semi rutted trails, imperfections in the terrain at higher speed than I do now with stock Trail edition shocks. I've had the chance to test it out in Ouray CO recently, and was impressed in 4Low situations, but a bit disappointed when running up above 40 MPH on certain dirt trails. I did come from a past of owning a few Ford Raptors, so that's where the desire for a bit of speed does come from.

I don't have a current connection to get them at a great price, but I'm sure the opportunity will come.

Next issue that I'd be concerned with would be the Pro suspensions ability to hold weight as good as the trail, such as adding a winch and winch mount, etc. that's what I've purchased recently and will be installing in the coming weeks.

lol a 4runner is not what you want for "high speed off road". A term which has many definitions within itself. What is high speed? What is off road? As you seem to allude to anything faster than 7 mph is too fast. Seriously though, you post a lot of useful informed information, I politely call BS on that statement. Unless you are talking about "high speed" when crawling over large obtrusive obstacles. Or if we are talking about a jump worthy truck, again not typical 4runner arena, sure. The general usage I believe that most people refer to in regards to high speed and a 4runner are the extent of beaten, washboarded, rutted "improved roads. Which KDSS was designed for, Australian outback.

Sure a swaybars stiffness is commensurate to the weight of what it is trying to stabilize. The ideal high speed off road rig would be anything but a 4runner. Yes, stripped down big squishy jump worthy multi shock long travel (more than likely with no swaybars). None of which is a 4runner.

That said, exactly explain to me how does less body roll not equate to a better off road handling than more body roll?

If you are adding that much weight get different coil-overs/shocks. You'll need stiffer springs.
