show me your vinyl wrapped hood scoops

getting tired of the glare but can't decide how to wrap the hood

i don't think i want to wrap the entire hood, just the scoop, but i'm having trouble picturing what would look good

please post pics of your vinyl wrapped hood scoops so I can steal your designs

I'm also interested. The paint on the hood scoop front insert is showing major weather wear and I was considering just plastic dipping that section or doing something like you're talking about.

Let me google that for you

With that said, wrapping around the hood scoop was a pain in the butt, and I removed, plastidipped and then re installed the scoop insert. There's a kevlar/ knifeless tape that will help get nice lines if you do just the center or whatever variation you choose.

Here's how I did mine. Works amazingly well at cutting down the glare. I would have rather had matte black, but the vinyl guy had the scrap of matte grey and did it for free, so I couldn't turn that down. Very glad I had it done.

That turned out excellent. Think I'll go that route + the front insert vinyl'd.

Thanks for the pic.

No problem. Yeah, the front insert would look good done too. And you'd be able to more easily see that it was done (if that's important for you). You really have a hard time noticing mine except from inside because of the angles.

I wonder if matte clear would do the trick and not be noticeable? I don't really want the look of a vinyl wrap, but I would like to get rid of the glare.

why mess around with expensive, tricky to install vinyl? Plasti-dip achieves the same results, is way easier to apply, is just as if not more durable, and peels off quickly if you change your mind. pretty tough to go wrong for $8 a can

I've never had plasti-dip turn out as well as the vinyl did. My plasti-dip always gets bubbles for some reason. :/

(I didn't do the vinyl myself, the pro did it).

watch some of the youtube how to vids. I've done all my badges, hood, and my stock wheels with absolutely nothing but perfect results. the hood started to fade a little after 2 full years, but again, just reapply and you're good to go.

trust me, its much less upsetting to get stone chips in plasti-dip when its so cheap to fix than it is on a vinyl wrap job.

Oh, I've done that. I've done badges on this truck and my last car, as well as a few things around the house. Just for some reason about 1/2 the time I get the bubbles.

Because plastidip looks good for a little while but does not hold up nearly as well as vinyl
