Question Gen 5 fuse diagrams/key? Main window control not working right...

PROBLEM SOLVED from BlackWorksInc's suggestion: "Go to each door's window switch and roll the window up & down 3 times in a row; return to the driver's side and do the same."

Does anyone know what fuses are for the driver's side power window control? Specifically, the switches all work at the individual windows/doors, but the three of the four switches don't work on the driver's side.

Can anyone point me to a good description/source for 5th gen fuse box diagrams?

I did a cursory search of the forums and the Internet, as well as the owner's manual in my truck, but I can't find a good, detailed overview of what fuses do what. The printed diagrams on the respective fuse boxes aren't much help.

The vinyl place I used apparently put my truck on a trickle charger and I think that blew a fuse somewhere. Everything else seems to be OK.

Thoughts?

You want the interior fuse box under the drivers side dash right by the E brake.
I think you want the fuse marked "door D" but seriously while you are there test em all.

Thank you, but no dice-- the fuses related to the doors are intact. There is a 30A fuse (Door P, I believe) that I couldn't pull and suspect it is locked in place in some way. So, either that is the culprit, or there are other issues.

Any other thoughts?

Before we get too fancy, have you checked that the window lockout switch is off? It's the one above all the window controls on the driver's door and it should prevent the other windows in the truck from moving. It also turns off the little lighted dots on the three switches passenger window switches on the driver's door and on the other door switches so you can check if it works or not.

If that's not it here's the wiring diagram from the 2010. There is a 7.5A fuse that powers the Power Window Master Switch that might be your culprit.

Prior to this occurring did you disconnect the battery? Does the Driver's Side Window Auto Up/Down feature not work, do the other windows work at their switches? If so, then go to each door's window switch and roll the window up & down 3 times in a row; return to the driver's side and do the same, has the issue resolved itself? If so, the windows needed to be reinitialized due to disconnecting the battery; if not we'll need to dig in a bit further.

BlackWorksInc

Is this window initialization process similar to what's done on Camry's/Avalons from around '05 - '07?

Thanks.

Far as I know Toyota has pretty much stuck with the same window initialization process for a decade or so. Up & Down all the way 3 times in a row and it should be set, for "All Auto" switches you may need to do it at each door.

BINGO!!!

I am not able to test this until next week, but yes -- the battery was disconnected and these are the exact symptoms!!!

I feel like a tool. I'm used to, ah, simpler systems. Not all this fancy stuff that needs reinitialization.

Thanks in the meantime -- I'm 95% sure this is the issue.

Hey -- thanks to everyone else who chimed in. I'm going to test the reinitialization process once I get a chance and will report back.

Lovin' these forums. Great crowd. Thank you!

I just want to say this forum is the best. I had this same problem. The switches on the drivers side wouldn’t roll down the passenger side windows. Checked all my fuses. I called the service guy at a dealership and he didn’t know what it was and suggested that I bring it in for the techs to check out. But as always I searched the forum first and as always the answer was here. Thanks!

OMG, thank you for this post! I do a lot of work myself on my 4runner, and had everything taken apart to figure out why my rear window isn’t working… read your post and realized it’s the first time I’ve ever used that lockout switch now that the 5 year old in the back can reach the window switches.

Smile Photo of interior fuse box

Can anyone upload a photo of their 5th gen interior fuse box, or point me in the direction of a photo online? This is for a 2019. I have the fuse diagram but looking to confirm directionality of the fuses.

Thanks for being great.
