I just wrapped the center part of the hood but could easily do the whole hood. I do not have a hood scoop. I used Vivvid vinyl. Found it on amazon for about $30 that fits the whole hood.

I wrapped my front valance in vivvid matte black. I think wrapping a hood would be way easier. Wrapping the balance was a PITA. Much sharper angles. I'll probably just plasti-dip next time.

I did the same thing and it was such a pain. The more I've wrapped the more confident I am I can do better at the valence. I also used knifeless tape which helped a ton with the lines. But still trying to not get wrinkles is hard.

By who? The hood and all needed parts can be had for about $500 plus paint which is about $300

I've got an idea to help facilitate more hood swaps. Instead of looking for 4Runner enthusiasts on this forum to give up their coveted hoods, I'm going to start looking at local classifieds for 4Runners for sale with the hood color that I'm looking for. If someone is selling their 4Runner anyways, I'm not sure how much losing a scooped hood would affect the sale value. To us, sure, but for most buyers, probably not (anecdote: my wife and I were both searching for 4Runners when we were looking to buy, and she never noticed that some had scooped hoods and others didn't until I pointed it out.). Since hood seekers are usually willing to offer some cash, it lets the seller probably make an extra several hundred bucks on top of the sale of the vehicle. I'm thinking small used car dealers are probably the best place to start, then maybe private parties selling an older 5th gen model. I doubt any Toyota dealership would be willing. Has anyone tried this? I'll report back if I have any luck. Right now there aren't any white 4Runners for sale in my area though.

Remember, if you do that, you should probably put PPF on top of the vinyl.
I vinyled the front cross members on the bumper a matte black and within 50 kms, the vinyl was chipped from pebbles. It's super brittle stuff.
I realize a white vinyl wrap won't show as much, but you'll notice it in the sun. So, at that point, it depends on how much imperfections bug you.

But if I was selling my trd, why would I risk lower resell/trade in value? Most buyers know that trd comes with a scooped hood right ?

I still have a silver non-scooped hood that I would be willing to trade for a scooped one. Eastern VA....

Just finished pricing everything out to buy new from toyota. Prices have dropped.
$505 shipped
+paint (which should never be $300, if you pay $300 to get a hood painted you are a fool)

Buyers lurking around this forum certainly know, but I'm not sure that all or most buyers know or even care. In the case of a small used car dealer (or an individual), the question comes down to whether the hit on resale value (to the extent there is one in all cases) will be greater than the amount of money that they would receive for the swap. It's not a slam dunk, but I'm thinking it would be easier to persuade a small dealer that it's in their benefit.
I found a dealer in northern Utah that sells only branded vehicles, and they're selling a branded, white TRD Off Road right now. If I can find a way to go up there for work, I'll try my luck.
