Morimoto 2Stroke LED Bulbs vs DDM Tuning Saber LED

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with the new Morimoto 2Stroke LED Bulbs for the High Beam/DRL? On paper they look promising. One of my concerns is the DRL function possibly being too bright.

Just hoping to get some info on these because I'm on the fence between these and the DDM Tuning Saber LEDs that others have discussed.

Thanks for the help guys!

I have them. They are a tad brighter than the halogen. But I don't mind it as it's doing it's job as a drl. Morimoto 2Stroke LED Bulbs vs DDM Tuning Saber LED-20160715_183744-jpg

One thing though these you notice the light pulsing of led. Because of the pwm trying to tone the brightness down for the drl. Not sure if that is same for saber. But stupid bright as high beam. I love it

So, they make anti-flicker links for the 2Stroke LEDs; however, they do NOT work for the 4Runner. Do NOT buy them. Installing them causes the LEDs to not work at all, either for DRL or High Beam. Thankfully, TRS was kind enough to let me return the links. I'm just going to deal with the flicker.

I have the DDM Sabers and at first I hated them because of the flicker. I called them and they said they would send me the resisters they offer to see if it helps and it did help a small amount. Almost perfect. They told me that later this year their company is coming out with a different type of resister/capacitor that is going to fix the flicker. Maybe wait until they release?

I just bought the DDM's after reading another thread on them. I hope they work well. I don't know if I'll use them as DRL's or not (the '16s have DRL on/off on the stalk). It seemed like there were no issues with them at full power in the other thread? Either way I'll try to post some pics when I get them in.

They actually do work, but you need to verify polarity of the circuit. Had to swap 3 of 4 of my connectors to make my 2strokes work with the flicker links. The only caveat is that they will be full brightness in drl mode, which is very bright.

I like my 2strokes, but I still want a proper lower output drl (without flicker). Highs are fantastic, but the more often used drl still need some tweaking to be 100%.

I'd honestly consider making a more custom drl and just using the 2strokes for the high beams.

Interesting. TRS told me that the resistors require a certain minimum voltage to function properly, and that Toyota's voltage for the DRLs is too low. Unfortunately, they didn't give me much more than that. They did give me an option to play with it and have them at full brightness (possibly what you did), but I wouldn't exactly call DRLs with the brightness of 1000 suns "working." Lol. Yes, they may turn on, but not with the intended effect.

Yeah, I'm not sure what I want to do. I know you can buy the fog light/DRL kit that has a button, but it looks like it'll require some tweaking to look proper on a 14+ (the button illuminates green instead of blue). Not sure if anyone has attempted that, yet. Unfortunately, lighting is a pain, because it's all made in China for low budget companies. You can't even pay top dollar for a P&P kit that's properly engineered. Thanks, Obama. :/
