Cleaning Cloth Seats

After a year of ownership with my 15 trail with the mesh cloth seats, they are starting to smell. I knew I would regret not getting leather. My two stinky vizslas and trips to the gym have finally taken their toll. This week is has been raining non-stop which amplified the smell. I am starting to consider wet okoles or katzkin leather covers.

I tried febreeze which kind of helped, but the truck still has a slight "gym bag" smell.

What are you folks with the cloth seats using to clean them?

I workout before work and drive straight to work after. That leaves my sweaty clothes in my truck for more than 8 hours in the heat. Here is how I solved the smell problems.

I bought two 5 gallon buckets from home depot and Two Gamma Seal Lids. These lids don't let any smell out. Put your gym shoes , clothes and towels etc in the buckets.

To get rid of the smells before that set up I bought Air Purifying Bag from amazon and that solved it.

Now I use the buckets plus bag

Get an upholstery/carpet cleaner and spray it on the seats then agitate with a scrub brush. Then take warm/hot to rinse the seats and ideally suck it up with a shop vac. If you don't have a wet vac then you can use towels.

The center grayish part of the seats is pretty much 100% waterproof, water will only soak into the black side portions of the seats.

I have cleaned my seats EXTENSIVELY and these things are very durable. If you really want to give them a good clean, unbolt them with the 4 bolts and literally hose them down.

Why wouldn't you shower before you leave the gym?

Kind of a personal question but it's because I live a mile away and like my shower

Maybe kinda ghetto, but can you sit on a couple of towels on your way home? You said it's only a mile.

I usually shower after the gym, but at least once a week I won't. I'll still toss on my work clothes from that day for the ride home.

Maybe you could do that?

Or just toss on a new shirt/shorts for the ride
