Hi everyone! I haven't been on the forum for several months now, partly because I've been super busy and partly due to some painful tendonitis and a wrist injury which have limited the amount of time I can use the computer.
Anyway, in late July I took my annual camping and photography trip to Nevada and the Mojave desert. I saw a lot of fascinating ghost towns, mining camps and other historic sites; plus some incredible scenery and wildlife.
I'm currently working on the many videos from the trip, featuring numerous historic sites as well as some stunning scenery and wildlife. This is a slow process for the same reasons mentioned above. Here's a little preview of what's to come:
This video features the first place I visited during my 2020 Nevada & Mojave trip -- the Boxcar Cabin and Lee Mines, CA. You'll get to see this unique prospector's cabin inside and out, as well as mining remnants that date back to the 1920s.
In this video I check out a former miner’s cabin hidden in a remote canyon of the Mojave desert. This amazing cabin has been well-maintained and apparently still sees frequent use. This was the second site I visited during my 2020 Nevada & Mojave trip

...Nice video, Ray!......this cabin is in surprisingly excellent condition considering its age and the harsh conditions there?!.
....Your videos are always both entertaining and informational!.......Cheers!............
Come along as I visit a fascinating cinnabar (mercury) mine on a mountain peak in Nevada. This mine features an unusual ore bin and two-levels of trestles, built on a rocky cliff. I spent the second night of my trip near this mine and got some spectacular time-lapse shots of the night sky.

It is good to see your videos again while stuck here. Good job!

Join me as I explore the historic buildings at the Mina Mine, a cinnabar (mercury) mine in central Nevada. There are several small shop buildings at the mine, and a large mill. I also found cabins dating back to the mine’s founding, and several other structures including an interesting bunkhouse.
Explore a pair of small cinnabar (mercury) mining camps in central Nevada. You’ll see old cabins, ore bins, a crumbling root cellar, plus a well and pump house.
This video gives you a look at some of the beautiful scenes and wildlife in western Nevada. You'll see spectacular scenery, sunsets, starry skies, and a comet. Wild horses and burros, pronghorn antelope, a Great Basin rattlesnake, and other creatures are featured too. Includes aerial shots and time-lapse shots.
Join me as I explore some very picturesque ruins at Orizaba, NV and the Orizaba Mine. This was one of the most interesting sites I visited during my 2020 trip. The mine’s structures are over 110 years old, and include two stationary boilers, a head frame, hoist, and other artifacts. You’ll also see the cabins of the old mining camp.

Come along as I explore a rarely-seen mining camp in a remote area of western Nevada. I’ve given this mine a fake name to protect it from vandalism.
The mining camp includes a mill, a well-built cabin, a garage and workshop, outhouses, and a water tank. There are also ruins and artifacts from an earlier period of the mine.
