Bumper piece is back from paint. Added some edge trim to it since the body and frame flexes separately so rubbing of the paint might occur.

Bumper comes in tomorrow, hopefully.

Great Build

Nice work on the catch up work, you are right on the questions. I have thought about PM'ing you about that roof rack myself. We have similar taste. Do you notice any wind noise increase with the roof rack? I had a steel full length before and took it off. I live with my sunroof open and am sensitive to wind noise.

I have the 3/4 and I'd be lying to you if I said there was no wind noise. It's pretty bad especially at tilt. Even when all windows are closed I hear excessive wind noise going 40+. Some passengers think there are 35+ winds outside.

It's a great rack though.

I really appreciate the honest feedback! It does look awesome. And i love the modularity.... If that is a word.

Awesome build man. Will have to hit you up for some trails in the Washington area soon. I just traded in my Tacoma for a 4Runner when I moved up here and need some advice on where to go.

@intothinair , yeah no prob. You should join this NW group if you're on FB.

I received my Addicted bumper today. No wrapping so it has a lot of scratches on it. Hit it up with some matte black paint. Can't install it until November when I'm back from vacation.

Just wrapped up an awesome trip to Asia. Here are a few standouts in Hong Kong. They sure love their LR Defenders. The Philippines had a lot of LC70s but didn't get a chance to snap a pic. I did manage a shot of the Fortruner.

And my OME 2887s arrived as I was gone. Bumper and coil install will happen next week.

Hi,
can you please let me know where you got the 4runner vinyl/graphics done ?
I've been looking for something like that for a while.

Royal PITA to remove the TRD Pro garnish. Luckily I've done this 3x but still it sucks prying this thing off. Even though it held on by 3M tape I guarantee it will still stick onto the bumper even after a severe front crash.

The install of the 2014+ prototype Addicted Offroad bumper took a lot longer than I expected.

Taking off the stock bumper parts was easy. The hard AC line was in the way so I had to bend it so I can fit the crossmember onto the frames mounting plates. The AC line looked extremely awkward and I didn't feel comfortably with it that way. Took an angle grinder to the crossmember plate and made a notch to fit around the AC line with some pressure hose around it for extra protection.

How I initially bent the AC line to mount the crossmember. This wasn't gonna work for me...

Took a grinder to cut a little notch to fit the AC line w/ some pressure hose wrapped around it.

Re-bent to AC line to its original shape and it fit snug into the notch I made.

From the get go, I did not want the bumper too close against the fender because if I go offroading the body might flex from the frame which may lead to bent fenders, that's expensive. It seems like all the forum members that run this bumper has it installed pretty close to the body as well. Addicted said the the bumper can be adjusted for a larger gap. Me and my buddies could not figure out how in the world with the existing holes can the bumper to adjusted any lower. We tried a few different bolting patterns with no results. The only other way was to actually "ovalize" the existing holes in order for the bumper to sit a tad lower.

We are not professionals at all, just amateurs who like to tinker around. Used our drill bits and attempted try "ovalize" one hole. Gave up after an hour of going through a few bits then filing just to slightly open up one hole. We said "F it!" and just continued with the install with how the holes are from the factory.

If we didn't grind the crossmember or try adjusting the bumper gap it would've been only an hour of labor getting the bumper on. We ended up working on it for 5 hours, including making extra trimmings to the plastic bumper piece for that good fit. Still need to relocate the washer reservoir and finish trimming the fender wells. Also, the the 2014+ bumpers you do not need to cut any brackets like the 2010-2013 models. According to Fedex the bumper is 100lbs.

After the bumper install, we tackled installing Old Man Emu 2887 coils to compensate for the additional front weight. In the comparison pic you can see how much taller the 2887 is compared to the 2884 coils.

Overall, I am satisfied with the bumper. Will need to hit up the trails and see how it goes...
