Toytec Boss vs Bilstein 6112/5160 setup
Saving up funds for a lift later this year and am thinking about these two setups.
Looking at the basic 3" front / 2" rear lift with SPC or Camburg ball joint UCAs to run the trails out here in CO and Moab. Want to level it out, with reliability pretty high on my list. I limit myself to easy to mid level trails, but want more clearance for those rocks on the trail.
In looking at the various threads, these seem to be comparable choices.
Thanks

Buy the router Boss. Buy once cry once. I would rather do that and save up then something decent but buying something better. But depends on your budget and desires.

I have the 6112/5160 on my 5th gen. And my friend has the boss lift on his FJ and I swear my 4Runner feels better on the road

Waiting on the boss Coilovers to come off backorder.
I have had Skyjacker, Fox, and Icon on my Tacoma but my 4Runner will not see the abuse the truck did. On the Runner I wanted simple, mid-quality, vehicle specific valving, and adjustability. Thats just what I believe the BOSS 2.0 coil overs offer so I went that route versus the bilstein 6112.
I'm hoping for a factory like ride quality but slightly more stiff. I'll post again when I get some miles on the setup.

@ cheeser
a 3rd option for high caster ball-joint UCAs is JBA
JBA Upper Control Arms - Tacoma 05 + - Toyota

This looks like what I was looking for as well. I don't want cheap, but doubt I want to spring for the high end either. However, I kept looking at the Fox setup though.
I do plan on keeping the vehicle for a long time though which is something I need to consider. Some places offer a good military discount which may ease the pain though.

my vote would be the bilstein and camburg with balljoint. Light racing ones would make me nervous with what i have read on this forum, and i have installed the camburg on my brothers, they are nice. I also had the toytec boss on mine and removed, because the shocks kept leaking.

I run Bilstein 6112's and SPC UCA's on my 4th gen and I've been pretty happy with it. The SPC's have been on for roughly 55k and I haven't had any issues with them. The 6112's have been on for about 7k. I believe the 6112's to be a much better shock than the TT Boss. The 6112's are adjustable using the grooves in the shock body and can accept any 14"x3" spring. The 6112's are a true mid-level coilover, meaning they are better in everyway from my previous 5100's but not quite on the same level as the Icons on my 5th gen. I've wheeled in CO and all around here and I'm happy with the 6112's.
On another note, I run the Camburg BJ UCA's on my 5th gen and while they are quiet, they did not provide the additional caster as advertised. They don't really offer much more, if any, additional travel either. If you are interested in a BJ style UCA, I'd look into the SPC's or the JBA's. I haven't really seen any negative reviews of the JBA's and the Jeep guys seem to like their stuff. The nice thing about the JBA's is that they use a GM bolt-in style BJ, which means you can find one just about everywhere.

OP, try to find someone with each setup to go for a ride. I got plenty of caster out of my Camburgs fwiw, but those JBA look interesting.

Yesterday I learned that the boss coilovers were still 2+ weeks from being available. I upgraded to kings.

I went with the Toytech Boss 2.5. They did great offroading black diamond runs at Big Bear.

Unhappy with BOSS setup
Dont go toytec. I installed a full boss setup with Camburg uniballs and the toytec fronts were ok for the first year then they started clunking(like the sound my old trucks front struts made when they were bottoming out), but what really gets me is that I tried to readjust them because they've started to sag a bit and they are completely stuck in place because the threads have begun to corrode. I battled them for a couple hours last weekend with no luck. So, technically these coilovers are adjustable, but only at install!! It sucks.

I thought they redesigned the front coilover a year or two ago, getting away from the two collar system for adjustments because of the possibility of them seizing (I can remember at least one or two others having it happen).. Yours look quite corroded, I've got over three years on mine and they don't look anything like that, but I have no need/desire to adjust them.

I have plans to get the 6112/5160 w/ 2" Toytec rear Superflex springs, 2" rear bump stop kit, and front diff drop kit. Unless someone has them in stock, the rear 5160's are backordered until early December.
I hear its a killer setup, and the Toytec rear springs are supposed to have stock suspension feel.
