Bought premium entune to replace basic no entune apps
I bought a premium entune system and replaced my basic system. Everything works great except for the apps. I can't use the entune apps in conjunction with my phone. I have Bluetooth so that's good but entune won't allow me to connect the app because my vin shows a basic system. Apparently I cannot upgrade to entune premium. I asked the seller if I could use his vin but that probably freaked him out.
Anybody else run into this issue or have a solution. Thanks.
Edit: 10/29/16
So in the end I googled a 4runner for sale with premium audio and located the VIN. That unlocked the app and I was able to connect to my head unit, take updates and use the apps. The only thing I can't do is use XM because I don't have the shark fin antenna but who needs that now with all the music streaming/podcasts.
Thanks for the help.

You only need the VIN to unlock the feature. It doesn't link the vehicle to you so any creative way you can find a VIN that has Entune as OEM will work.

Haha exactly, it's not like theirs a right to privacy for vins. They are visible

Hi 4runick,
I know you said that the issue is a vin that needs to be changed to one associated with a system that has the 'ENTUNE APPS'... Just wondering if your new Premium HU came with the modular processor (Hard-drive) that runs/stores the apps ("see BLUE ARROWS"); without this part the apps, USB, and AUX inputs... will be Grayed-out along with a msg telling you that the APPs are NOT installed! Look at the diagram below and be sure that this processor is included, attached, and connected via a short (horse-shoe) harness to the new HU!
'Best to you',

Oh I can open the apps they load then I get a pop up that says I need to get the app. I get Bluetooth, aux, and the apps aren't greyed out.

Maybe you have already done this, but if not - Start by deleting your online entune account. Then delete phone app. Then unpair your phone. Then reset the system in the car. Then do the steps in reverse.

Can someone just give me their vin with premium entune so I can use the app then update my HU? They are not private they are visible on every car.

Are you really asking for someones VIN here??????
You know, you could look online ... say for a premium trail or limited or SR5 and get the vin from them.
I am not suggesting you do this, just saying you could

Calm down saker. anyone could walk up to your car and look at any of the VINs they are not private.
I'll try that that route or just go to a dealership

Bought premium entune to replace basic no entune apps
I didn't realize that I still had the VINs for the Prius v and RAV4 attached to my Entune account rather than the VIN for my 4Runner. If you really need it, I could give you the VIN for my RAV4 since it was totaled out.

I believe you need to get the VIN number from the seller since your Entune is configured with the original VIN. I don't think the seller needs to worry about his/her privacy.
