Rock Sliders: C4 fab vs Shrockworks dimple tread

Hey just curious if anyone has opinions on both of these rock sliders. I'm looking at both because they have step plates. The C4 however, looks to be a little bit higher.

I have the C4 sliders and I like them. The steps plate is pretty much in line with the plastic trim along the bottom. Took me a while to figure out how to get in the vehicle since you are standing so high but after some trial/error in and outs I acclimated to them. Very well built!

Both are great options and have their pros and cons.

I have the Shrockworks dimple plated sliders. IMO they look awesome and the powder coating is great. They're quite hefty and should take a beating. The downside to them is that they may require drilling and use of tricky stick nuts but others have installed them without drilling and they're still on rock solid. I decided to drill just because if I was going to install it I was going to do it once and do it the way it was meant to be. The price was fantastic too. Got them in a GB and paid ~$510. Also be aware that wait times may be 3 months.

The C4 Fab ones look awesome and hefty as well. They are angled up a bit more so you should have a few degrees more side clearance but having a high step sort of defeats the purpose of a step. These don't require any drilling or use of stick nuts so that's a plus. The con: They are at least a few hundred more than the Shrockworks even with GB pricing since they do not come powder coated. So you either have to paint them yourself or pay to get them powder coated which is probably another $250.

Both structurally should be equal. If you want the ease of installation go with C4. If you're willing to put a little more effort and work in the installation but save hundreds of dollars then go with the Shrockworks.

I installed the Shrockworks dimpled sliders and they were a complete pain in the ass.

2016 TRD PRO here.

Took me close to 3 hours or so for both sides.

I did have to drill 3x. Once on the front passenger side and twice on the driver's front.

Also, the stick nuts were the most time consuming part trying to get it lined up the with bolt in the frame. There are these plastic covers you pop off on the frame and then you have to wiggle/bend the nuts into the frame and behind the hole to line up the bolts.

If I had to do it over again I'd take the sliders to a shop to have them welded on stead of trying to use the bolts and nuts.

Other than my install gripe, they are very well built and are 45lbs a piece.

I guess I should also mention that mine had KDSS so it took me 3 hours on the drivers side and 45 minutes for the passenger. If you don't have KDSS then it should take you less than 2 hours for both sides.

I'm willing to sacrifice an extra hour in the garage for the Shrockworks that have the option for a textured powder coat and come in cheaper than than the bare metal C4 Fab. If Shrockworks ends up doing a Black Friday deal, then personally it's a no brainer. Is there anyway around drilling the hole for the passenger side slider? I thought I saw in a thread you could avoid that.

You don't have to drill if you don't want to. I opted to do it on both sides. On the driver side there will be 1 hole to drill in the transmission crossmember and on the passenger side it asks you do drill 2 holes. Again, you don't have to do it and it appears that many decided not to do it without any issues. As long as you have a pair of jack stands it should go well and even better if you have a buddy help you install it. I did have two hiccups during installation. One, I needed a stronger metal drill bit which cost me a trip to the store and two, for some reason I did not have enough nuts for the installation which earned me another trip to the store. So be prepared to make a run if needed.

I only drilled 1 hole on the passenger side cross member. Also if you use the bottle jack it should fit in one of the holes of the gas tank skid so you can support it while you loosen the tank strap bolt.
I didnt think the stick nuts were a PITA. A little weird but just bend the tab to your needs and its not bad.

I have shrockworks but have seen C4 side by side with my truck. The shrockworks are a better step but C4 give just a little better clearance and are less likely to scrape. I've been extremely impressed with the powder coating on the SW. The biggest negative for SW is the lead time, it's always ridiculous. Can't go wrong with either.

I also like how the Shrockworks sliders finish towards the rear doors.

Never realized it's a hit or miss with drilling for the Shrockworks. Really want their sliders but not willing to drill.

Looks like they're doing a Shrockworks Group Buy. That should make the decision easy!!!
