WaterTight Boxes for Roof Rack

I have a GOBI rack and have a Rooftop cargo carrier.... it works, but was looking for some relatively low pro cargo boxes for the roof )Like Plano/Pelican) what are you guys using?

I have a Pelican 1650 coming in the mail today that I'm pretty excited about. I wanted something to organize the stuff that I already have in the back, and add a tool kit and some other random crap.. I plan on keeping it in the cargo area most of the time, but went with the Pelican so that I can throw it on the Gobi when I need the interior space for a dog crate or whatever else. I'll toss it up on the rack tonight to see how it fits, will update post with a picture if there's any daylight left.

Talked with Paul about these, super nice. Also super expensive, but he assured me you get what you pay for.

How big do you need? these Ammo crates are a convenient size for smallish items.

I carry tools to events and one of the things I made sure of when I switched to a Pelican case was to get a yellow one, so that if anyone walks off with it, it'd be noticed.

Pie in my face when one of the few things taken out of my 4Runner a couple weeks ago was that bright ass yellow 1450 case. didn't bother with the "cheap" B&W International case.

There's a thread on here somewhere with someone sporting some Plano all-weather cases. A couple of those are on my want list.

while not ideal for throwing on the roof, these are actually pretty good. i keep hunting clothes/gear in it during season.

I'd imagine a cooler, some rubber tubing, and a ratchet strap or two would be waterproof as shit, and cost less than 50$.

And it's unlikely someone will want to steal your POS hobbled together drybox.

You could also get a dry bag, if you don't actually need something hard cased.

It will surely be locked to the rack if I have to leave it up there for any extended period of time. Only plan on having to put it up there for camping trips with the dog, when the truck won't be out of my sight.

This is the reason that I am looking at 4 small / low profile cases that I can put behind the fairing on my rack.

...that and wind resistance.

Alu Boxes work great you can bolt them down from the inside and lock them as well. Some pics from my setup

Behind the fairing

And last but not least the old army aluminum medic boxes they are hard to find but super sturdy! Unfortunately mine doesn't lock but that's an easy fix with some small modifications.

I have driven through heavy rains with all of these boxes and had zero issues. Hope this helps
