Want to keep stock bumper, but add recovery points/shackles to the front...
Need advice on what to do to keep my stock bumper, but add two recovery points which come out the front. I do not have any future plans to add a winch as I will not be doing extreme off roading, but would like two recovery points to add shackles too off the front bumper. Does anyone have any DIY tips and/or links to parts I can order which can be bolted on with a few modifications to front bumper? I'm in NY so license will have to stay on front.

I'll stick with the little loops welded to the frame!
If it gets really serious, I'll add a bridle and pull from both at the same time.

I agree-- those welded loops are serious. I've bridled just to keep things centered.
I'd love to see destructive testing on the factory welded loops versus anything that uses fasteners.
The (4) welds per loop are well considered. The bracket is attached directly to the frame.
I'm not sure why people are concerned about the front recovery loops failing. I've read stories on this forum about the front loops shearing off at the bolts--- but obviously that's not true because the fronts are fully welded.

CBI has a nice looking hidden hitch. T4R5 Hidden Front Receiver Hitch | CBI Offroad Fab
The nice thing about it is you can put a shackle in it to start with and if you want a winch later you can just get a cradle to attach to. That way you can winch from both front/back without adding the weight to the front of the rig full time (just store it in the trunk).

The stock recovery points are more than strong enough to recovery from. It blows my mind that people waste money on things that are not needed and add provide 0 functionality.

I kinda think the Aussies know a bit more about overlanding and recovery on their daily drivers than most of us...just saying.
These recovery points are built for a market, i.e Australia, where their bumpers can't have external recovery points due to crash testing requirements. Which is why their ARB bull bars have jacking points and not shackle mounts.
Personally I don't know why the OP doesn't just get a UHWM hidden winch setup that has shackles poking out, and it gives him the option of a winch later on.
I mean what's the point of recovery points if you lack the ability to self recover? you going to pull really hard with your man muscles? you strong like bull?

they are actually called emergency towing eyelets per toyota, but a simple visual inspection will show that they are adequate for most recoveries
@ muscle_doc
look into hidden winch mounts, there are some that have recovery points that stick out through the bumper
