Ok, thanks. Your rear is at 2" of lift now. 2.5" rear lift would be 24.5", which would be the highest I'd suggest with KDSS.

Yes, the GS59-701 will allow for better articulation in the rear, maximizing the full range of motion. They won't affect the height.

Here's how to re-level the suspension out.

Which springs would I need for the rear to get that extra lift?

Also, at 23” in the front, is that maxed out height?

You're already running the C59-327's, which are 2.5" usually when empty. Are you running a 15mm spacer on one side? If not, an easy way to add 1/2" would be to add a 15mm spacer to both sides to bump it up that extra bit.

What rear weight have you added? 3rd row seat, roof rack, tire carrier, or anything?

Yeah, 23" up front is about 3" of lift, so to go any higher than that, you'll be running out of down travel which messes with the balance of the suspension travel, and can make the vehicle not perform as well in rough terrain.

Mike,

Bringing this back up now that things have normalized for me since Covid. I had a few questions if you don’t mind since some things look to have changed.

I am looking for a 3/2 lift on a KDSS runner:

Either
314’s / 700’s Front

Or

300’s / 574’s Front (LT)

Rear:
325’s with either 701’s or 705’s

What would be the pros/cons of the different fronts?

With JBA or Dirt King UCA’s, would either setup have an issue with KDSS or CV angles?

Will the 705 sag significantly more that the 701 if I tow with it? If so, is that enough height to not have reverse rake at full (500lb) tongue weight?

I noticed the varied coil sizes have been replace with spacers. Is that because of the higher predictably of the same size coil settling similar amounts, vs a varied length KDSS rear coil?

Finally, do you have an eta on these setups of when they would be able to ship?

Thanks Mike, you have been a huge help.

Hey Mike,
I'm just about to place my order and started reading the descriptions from page one of the rear springs again. I'm planning on going with 314's on the front with UCAs, and 329's for the rear. Then I started reading about the 677v's. Which would be more appropriate if I'm running a rear bumper, have a 3rd row, and tow a small camper from time to time?

It depends what height you want it to be. I'd normally suggest the 329's with all that you're carrying there, as the spring rate is more suitable to all that with less squatting under load.

Both front setups will yield pretty much the same lift, but the 574 struts have more travel, so if you wheel a lot and risk the tires coming off the ground, the extra travel will help to keep the struts from topping out as easily. JBA's make contact with extended travel struts, so I don't suggest those with these setups. The Dirt Kings have more clearance for the coilover. UCA's don't affect CV angle, that's the lift height.

Shocks don't sag. If you tow at all, you should run the 701's for proper ride support, otherwise it could be too soft. That's a fair bit of tongue weight.

KDSS rear coils were almost always not in stock and only made in 1 color, so not worth stocking and offering if people have to wait 2-3 months for them. The standard coils with a passenger side spacer give the correct lift heights and results without any downsides.

There's a delivery of coils arriving in about a week then pretty much everything will be in stock, but colors vary all the time still.

Thanks Mike!

Sorry meant to convey the question as to whether or not the CV’s would see any more appreciable wear with the 574’s, since I would imagine the articulation down would be brief/not continuous?

Thanks for the info on JBA’s. I was going back and forth on those, and you might have helped push me in one direction. Seem like a great product, but limiting in what type of setup you can run them on.

Oh yeah, I see. Full extension would be extremely rare if not offroaded with the chance of tires getting in the air, so they'd be fine.

JBA's are a fine product, but their ball joint "area" is about as big as stock (you don't gain coil clearance hardly at all there), since it's a bolt-on ball joint, and at full down travel I've seen them contacting the coils on longer travel front struts. Their claim, if I remember it right, was that it worked with the lift kit that was on their test vehicle, but they didn't test out other brands and longer travel struts.

Threw my kit on last week. Dobinson twin tubes w 302 coils (2.5") in front and 505 coils (1.5") in rear. Rides so well. No KDSS, nose dive and body roll significantly reduced, takes small and big bumps better than stock and way, way more responsive. Doesn't feel like a marshmallow anymore. I put 275 KO2s on with FN FX 0 17x8 0 offset wheels, and I'll have to push the front fender liners up an inch or so since there's rub in reverse, but that's due to the aggressive offset compared to stock wheels.

This is a great kit for a great price and super simple install. The trickiest part is just getting a buddy to help get the axle way down for 1.5" lift coils to fit in there. Everything else was super simple. Took about 3 hrs with jack n jack stands.

Mike was awesome to buy from and answered all my questions. Couldn't be happier with this kit.

Looking for dobinsons rear springs that yield 1.75”-2” of rear lift with factory weight.

No less than 1.75” and no more than 2”.

I have the same setup arriving tomorrow. I hope mine ends up just like yours. That is exactly the stance I’m looking for.

That looks great!! Same color as mine.

Looks good with that combo of wheels and tires too. Almost time for me to get new tires, so I've been watching closely what everyone else has been using.
