Has anybody used the 296 FJ coil on the front. I was set on getting the bilstein 6112 and using one of the lower setting until I started reading about dobinsons. I really don’t want to lift the rear, just do shocks. My other option I guess would be the 300 and a 1/2 spacer or trim packer in the rear.

Hello
@ Dobinsons Mike
,
Looking at your complete lift solution for my 4Runner on DobinsonsDirect I wanted to make sure my options where suitable:
TRDPro 4Runner 2015
Rock sliders, Full steel skidplates (Front to Gas Tank), looking to get a roofrack in the near future.
C59-314 Front Springs (+2in)
GS59-574 Long travel shocks (adds an inch to front)
C59-677V Rear Springs (+3in)
GS59-575 Long Travel shocks
+ Diff Drop kit, UCAs
Wouldn't the front be a little too soft with the 314s (80-150lbs) ?
Thanks for your feedback, looking to order for your labor day sale !
Thanks

Hey man,
The weight listed for the 314 coils is for accessory weight and you don't have a front bumper. the C59-302 is a better choice so you don't over lift it.
The 677v will be too tall unless you have the weight on there. Check out post #1 in this thread for full coil details too. 675V will be enough for the rear of yours.
When running those rear shocks, bump stop extensions and extended brake lines are required.

Thanks for the advise ! I'll take note
Question, would the 3in rear coil/spring set up create a rake or would it be fairly leveled ?
And if it's raked, by how much ? Is it noticeable and a big deal ?
thanks !
EDIT : Order Placed

I am now considering "downgrading" or is it really upgrading to the Dobinson's 2'' package to replace my ICON Stage 1 2'' lift. I have needed to rebuild my Icons about yearly or roughly every 15-20k, I only offroad about 10% of the time too. It's always one of the front COs that leaks, the rears have been solid. Basically, I am tired of dropping $400-500 a year on rebuilds at the shop. I was overzealous when I bought the kit and hoped it would last at-least 30k between rebuilds not 15k ... I don't post much but felt I had to vent and look forward to the Dobinsons!

Dobinsons 2” lift
Rocking the Dobinsons suspension this weekend. Awesome performance compared to stock suspension.

Someone else just did this, but with our 3" gear. They were having to rebuild with their truck down too often, and this year, the rebuild took a lot longer than expected, and their family summer trip was getting pushed. I haven't heard from them since the install and the trip, but I think maybe they're still on it!!

I have KDSS and will be installing a suspension for the first time.
Should I buy the springs that correct for a lean, or should I just put on regular coils and see if I have a lean first?

Upgrades all installed this year with the SSO bumper being the last part. Sporting:
* RCI aluminum skids (getting beat to hell -- go for steel everyone for the front, the aluminum will suffer of any hard real world use)
* SSO slimline hybrid bumper with cutouts for eventual winch
* Dobinsons mid-weight coils and 2" lift
* RSG sliders (not seen)
* Falken Wildpeak AT3W (P-rated, but no issues so far with regular off-road .. run at 28psi on trail)
Original install of Dobinsons had a poor post-alignment but after I had a new shop re-do the alignment it drives smooth and handles well. Night and day off-road with the lift and extra clearance.
On-road driving (expansion seam and speed bump test) is smoother as well. Overall less "crashing" of the suspension.

What struts would you recommend for a C59-238 / c59-599 combo? Stock weight vehicle looking for good all around use, a little better appearance, a little better ride.

700 front & and 705 rear is what would likely work the best.

It's a good question. With a low height lift, you can get away with even height coils, and adjust the KDSS system by pushing up one side. But generally, it's best to buy the offset height rear coils from the get-go. The front can use even height coils, only the rear needs to be offset.

It's amazing how a good alignment can make a lot of difference. I found the same thing with my truck last year. Bad first alignment, great 2nd alignment.
