this is my favorite feature, i have a nice gouge from a rock right across this but the valve stem was untouched

i really want to powdercoat the trail wheels but i know it would get all nicked and scratched the first time i went offroad

^ Exactly. I love the Pro wheels but thrashing them isn't going to look good

Smile Trail Wheels, Duratrac tires

We have the stock Trail wheels on our 4R but the dealer had fitted Goodyear Duratracs on it as a demonstrator. He offered to trade back to the oem tires, but we said "No-o-o-o thankyu". After seeing that comparison, I'm sure happy with what we have, both wheels and tires. - Ted

I feel the exact same, not that you asked. I've owned a 95 1/2, 2009 and a 2015 Tacoma. I just switched over the the 2016 4-Runner. I really like the looks of the stock Trail rims! I'm definitely NOT paying $800 for zero performance upgrade.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to get the stock Bridgestone instead of the Dunflops SE Toyota is usually slapping on all the SR5's and Trails in the region.

I love the trail wheels. By far the best looking 5th gen wheels, IMO.

I like both.

I was lucky enough to find a set of takeoffs for my 3ed gen.

Anyone know the weight difference? That could be a big factor in performance.

Maybe 5lb difference? Nothing like going to steelies. The Internet has not blessed me with the cold hard evidence of what a Trail wheel weighs. I've looked and do not find a definitive value, just general ballparks...

32lbs the trail wheel is in weight , had them off recently for powdercoating and put them on a scale

Ok here are more accurate details from what I've researched.
Trail wheels = ~31 lbs, +15mm offset, 7.5in wide(better for running 285 or 295 width tire)
Pro = ~28 lbs, +4mm offset, 7in wide(ideally 275mm max width, only a couple tire manufacturers will say 285 is ok)

Pick your poison.

Even though I know black wheels would look better on my Trail, it's hard to trade out a wheel on a model that isn't made any more. I guess i'm biased too. But they did look a lot better once I put the ATIIs on.

to be thorough, i will add here that the 2010-2013 Trail Edition wheels (phone-dial style) are 17"x7.5" and weigh 29 lbs.
