My wife's catalytic converter was cut off her 14 limited
I'm leaving work today when my wife calls and says her 4R sounds like a "motorcycle" and the dash was lit up like a christmas tree. Turns out someone crawled under it while she was at work and chopped it off with a sawzall and tore the wiring for the O2 sensor. Sounds like she's driving a farm truck. I've already filed a police report and an insurance claim, it's going to cost us $250, but more importantly it's a pain in the ass to get fixed with our schedules.
At least they left us nice clean cuts...

Jeez, I thought the economy had improved enough that lowlifes weren't resorting to this or stealing copper piping out of homes. Best of luck- this is a pain in the arse to deal with.

Kids these days... I would think there would be far more profitable things to steal.

There is good money in recycling catalytic converters because of the precious metals inside of them a low life can buy a lot of their drug of choice from recycling a catalytic converter.
Sucks for you guys for sure and those are really good clean cuts for a thief in a hurry. I don't think that was their first one

I had this happen to me years ago in my old 94 4runner. We are easy targets due to the ride height compared to cars.. Although, I too thought this was a thing of the past.

My wife and I took our two girls (6&2) to the zoo this weekend. We stopped at a stingray petting area(harmless cownose rays) and ten minutes later we step out to a stolen jogging stroller and backpack that had diapers and butt cream. I swear nothing is sacred anymore...

Nooo! Sad but it takes less than 20seconds with a torch brand blade, and any old sawzall and lithium batteries. Ive always wanted to wire the exhaust to the battery to deter it, but chances are i would fry the crook and get sued by his wife.

A car battery can't electrocute you.
