304tmt's build and adventures

Well after owning my 4runner for a few months and doing some stuff to it. I figured maybe I should start a thread.

Instagram: @Trails tandard

The 4runner is a 2016 Trail in super white. After owning a horrible 2015 jeep cherokee for 2 months we traded it for a 2016 jeep wrangler unlimited. We loved the jeep and planned on keeping it forever, but being a chrysler product that didn't happen. It developed a ticking noise in the engine and after 4 time in the shop, I had enough. So, we traded the jeep for the 4runner and couldn't be happier.

This is my old jeep

This is it 12/5/17

And so it began. The night before we got the 4runner. I stayed up all night and researched as much as I could. Which brought me to this forum. After looking around at all the builds I knew I had to do stuff to mine. Within a week I started ordering parts. Made the mistake of ordering a spacer lift and 295's without proper research and/or asking questions. And so it begins.

The beginning of my build really starts here. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?t=229878 . Basically I ordered 295/70 r17 and a spacer lift and thought it would work out with minimal cutting. That didn't last long.

I ended up ordering bilstein 5100's with toytec adjustable collars. Along with total chaos UCA'S. And to start off just a daystar 1.5 inch rear spacer.

Here's the new tire compared to the stock tire. Didn't think it would be that much bigger.

And since I was having wheel dilemma issues I have to just get a teaser.

While waiting to get parts in I decided to start trimming, cutting and banging. It was a tough decision to go ahead with the body mount chop. With only 500 miles on the truck. It took 4 of 5 time of me getting under there and just staring at it questioning my life.

Some plastic trimming:

Fender liner pushed up and front bumper trimmed

Rear of fender liner

And gearing up for the bmc

The bmc with plate fitment

Lift kit installed. If you have kdss RATCHET STRAPS ARE YOUR FRIEND.

Thanks. I appreciate it. Not sure what I would have done, had I known the cement pro was coming out. I really like that color, and probably would've waited.

I ended up going with fuel trophy wheels. 17x8.5 with -6mm offset. I really like the matte anthracite gray.

This is pre leg day

And post leg day

The next week we went for a snow trip. My son's first time in the snow. It was nice not being too worried about getting stuck.

It's been a pretty wet winter here. So I haven't gone out much yet. But I did find a chance to do some "suburban rock crawling"

I have also been working on a few little projects. Color matched my garnish trim pieces. Made a trd replica grille. And have C4 fab sliders on the way. I will have pics soon.

Nice truck man, wheels are badass. Don't you need a re-gear for the tire size ? Just wondering because I want bigger tires also hehe !

Thanks. I really like the wheels, even though I'm not a huge fan of fake beadlocks. I would say yes a regear would be optimal. Especially for these coopers. It's definitely sluggish off the line, but it's not intolerable. Anything bigger then this and yes gears are a must.

Gears and a front locker are definitely in my future.
