Agreed. I also hate the fake intake things around the fog lights. The truck would look classier without those.

I've been to junk yards, I've looked for months on the forum to try and find someone willing to trade in SoCal. At this point my goal is 600-700$ range and I would be happy with that. Wanted to hood scoop for awhile. Thanks for the help and info though. Some good sources.

An alternative to buying another hood, paint, etc.

Replacement Hood REPT130105 | CarParts.com

Still missing some hood components but looks pretty good to me. $100. marked down for 473$.

I know it still needs paint (and maybe more). Is this really the deal I am looking for, or snake oil? and what is the average cost going now days for a small section of paint and wax???

Opinions?
I ordered a custom hood scoop fit (from Ebay: MrHoodScoop painted HS-002; $320.00) for my 2019 T4R with custom matched paint. I attached it to the hood myself without any problems. It looks awesome and I no longer cringe with hood scoop envy when I see 4runners and Tacomas with the hood scoop. I am new to this forum but I will attach before and after pics of my work. My neighbors who saw me attaching the scoop are also lost in admiration for the more aggressive, sportier look. They love it just about as much as I do. I was also willing to part with $1,000 to change out my hood but I tell you that you can do it yourself and you will also love your new hood scoop. Let me know if I should go through the trouble of attaching pictures.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

My objection to the fake hood scope is - I've had many times on steep trails seeing over the hood well enough when approaching a steep transition where there could be a drop off. Is that a waterbar or a cliff?

Guess I'll eventually install a front camera as even without the scoop it is tough to look over at times.

Anyone with a scoop that hates it and wants to trade for a flat hood? I'll do the work and supply some beer / pizza, whatever. Mine is a 2016 MGM hood. DMV area, willing to travel within reason.

Although I enjoy a bit of good sarcasm, my post is seriously real. I just tried to attach photos but the image size allowed was way too small. I will try and find the way to add links instead of uploading them.

The aftermarket hood is not worth it after paying for shipping. The OEM hood and ALL required components cost $500 brand new direct from Toyota. Why bother with aftermarket?

I couldn’t find someone to swap with. I got a new hood w/ scoop ~$350, scoop inserts ~ $50 ~ $300 paint. Luckily I sold the orig hood for $150 :-)

I like the looks of them. They'd look better if they were real.

I'm not a fan of the dorky fake hood scoop, but I tolerate it because I wanted the rear-diff locker, and KDSS.

So trade hoods with someone looking for a scoop. Lots of people looking to make this trade including myself.
