I posted an earlier response to your dilemma but inadvertently erased it while trying to edit it to add pictures. I was finally able to resize pics to enable them to be attached.

Here is the original post:
I ordered a custom hood scoop fit (from Ebay: MrHoodScoop painted HS-002; $320.00) for my 2019 T4R with custom matched paint. I attached it to the hood myself without any problems. It looks awesome and I no longer cringe with hood scoop envy when I see 4runners and Tacomas with the hood scoop. I am new to this forum but I will attach before and after pics of my work. My neighbors who saw me attaching the scoop are also lost in admiration for the more aggressive, sportier look. They love it just about as much as I do. I was also willing to part with $1,000 to change out my hood but I tell you that you can do it yourself and you will also love your new hood scoop. Let me know if I should go through the trouble of attaching pictures.

In a couple days I'm picking up a SR5 Prem. At first I wanted ORP, Trail, kdss, skid plate, hood scoop, etc. But after so much research, I'm excited for my upcoming purchase.

Seeing how I wanted a hood scoop, this thread proves i shouldnt. Socal + Sun = Bad Idea.

Thank you all for saving me money too!

There are a few things that surprise me anymore in life but one thing that does is that no aftermarket supplier has come up with a scoop kit. It’s a cash cow

Why does that 4runner have a trailer hitch on the front?

So that one can mount a winch on the front, or the back, or leave it at home when not needed.

Wife wanted a scoop but price would be $1k for oe style painted. so Mr. Hood scoop it was. Came prepainted black which turned out to be a really nice match considering the flake. Scoops or no scoops. Do what you like.

Those of you sticking scoops on your hoods can run down to advanced auto and get the 34.00 special in black then have your hood wrapped.

You will look so cool flexing in your cul de sac.

I'm not in any rush, but I'll definitely be installing the TRDP hood in the future. I don't think it has to be as expensive as some think. It's $330 shipped + guts. As far as paint, I'm hitting it with rattle paint and clear coat (hear me out) then wrapping it myself in Avery glossy white for ~$50. Folks on the Tacoma forum swear that it's a near perfect match to Toyota's Super White. I think it'll be fun. I'm open to suggestions though.

As far as the scoop vs no scoop debate, believe me, I tried buying a TRDP. Having a 3rd row was an absolute requirement for my wife, and I worked on her for about 8 months (that's how long it took to find a white 3rd row with dark interior and low miles). I even looked to see if it was possible to install the 3rd row in a TRDP. Obviously, I lost that fight... I'm almost certain that if all the lucky TRDP owners knocking us for wanting the scoop had to buy an SR5 like I did, not an insignificant segment of them would wish they had it too. Kind of like the rich kids who say being rich is overrated, if you know what I mean.

Now though I'm glad I got an SR5 because making all the little tweaks on the weekends has been a lot of fun. Cheers!
