OEM Audio + 5th Gen 4Runner audio system
I don’t think this has been posted yet. Just passing the info along.
This vehicle specific audio system from OEM Audio + has been mentioned in a couple other threads but I received an email this morning announcing its availability.
4runner | OEM Audio Plus
Their products appear well thought out but I have not heard any of their systems. Any of you have experience with OEM Audio +’s stuff?
So who’s going to be the first to drop some coin and try this?!

Thanks for posting this. They had originally only offered the lower end package, so I'm excited to see that they offer a package that replaces all of the door speakers as well! I've heard a few systems before and they are a dramatic improvement over the factory system. Not sure if it's worth the money, but a good plug-and-play option.

This seems to be a new trend in car audio... complete vehical specific turn key packages.
My friend with a BMW just bought something like this and is asking me to help install.
Let us know how it sounds. I wonder if I can build better for that price tho, ~2k buys you a lot of audio from reputable companies if you want to put in a little extra work since sometimes its just not drop in.
Don't forget to add a little sound deadening / Dynamat type product while you have door panels off. Often times that gets you more mileage than just throwing in more speaker and amplification. Remember, every 3db of gain requires double the amplification power. Its a lot easier and cost effective to make the car quieter than it is to throw more amp and speaker at it.

I wonder if the rear subwoofy will jack the truck up on it's own or if it moves out of the way to obtain your BJ

Yeah. I would be interested in that sub/enclosure, buy a dedicated amp and swap out the front speakers with those drop in Focals.
I am surprised the lower cost system doesn't come with front door speakers.

Everyone has their own requirements when doing things. For me, what i wanted was easy of self install. and a sub that looked OEM. This is it for me.
Do i need a super system in the 4runner? No, after getting spoiled by hifi and headfi systems, nothing that i can install in the 4runner will come close.

I checked them out this past weekend at ToyotaFest in Long Beach. They had a demo in a 4runner. The sound on this thing is amazing. I would definitely get this later down the line.

Would have to hear it before dropping that much coin. Plug and play is cool though. Would like to see the sub a little more blended in, ie would like it to be a little less visible to would be thieves. Not sure which way I am going for the audio upgrade yet.

I would love to upgrade the sound system in mine, but my boat need a revamp in the audio area first ...
The truck is for next summer i guess!

So obvious question if anyone with an aftermarket stereo is reading this...
How much did you spend versus the $1600 of this system including the door speakers?
I've been thinking about putting in an underseat powered sub (like the one from Kicker) along with swapping most of my door speakers and adding a multi-channel amp... It seems like you'd likely need a signal processor to keep the factory head unit also with this setup. I was guessing a total system installed would be around $2K, but hadn't actually started pricing anything out yet.

I like the idea of plug and play, it does seem on the high side, but hell that depends on how well it sounds, doesn't it. I've heard systems people spent far more on that sounded like a mud puddle in an empty church during a rain storm.

Just FYI
Quote:
4Runner Subwoofer System.
Enjoy deep, non-localized low frequency reproduction.
Subwoofer design is tailored specific for the 5th generation 4Runner. Subwoofer fits flush to drivers side rear panel and easily removable to access the tire jack. You can expect deep, impactful bass reproduction (as long as it’s in the recording).

I planned to go to Toyota Fest but things changed. Wish I could have heard that system in person!
