Very nice GS! I was in the same boat as you, I eventually bagged it after so many years being static. I honestly bagged it because I knew I could sell it much easier being bagged. lol

I always wanted to build a 2nd gen GS, but that will have to be put on the back burner as well lol

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to update this thread once again. My dad and I decided to go out to our local off road recreation area. To the locals, its known as Azusa Canyon. It is well known for huge mud pits and mountains to climb. It's been flooded this past year due to all the rain we had in CA, so it currently isn't as big as it normally is.

We got there kind of late and the area was really small, so there wasn't much going on. There was a river crossing that was about 5 ft deep and people were trying to cross it. It was so deep that trucks with 44s still couldn't cross it. I'll post some pictures that my dad took. I hope you all enjoy it!

FYI: I'll be making the jump to 295's next Saturday! I'll post pics once they are on!

Here are some random pics of the runner!

Mrfobby's Not so Fobby Build Thread

Man you've had some WHIPS! Now all you need are some TE's on the 4runner haha.

Anyways I'm happy to see a pre-2014 black TE with F5's. Definitely the direction I'm looking to go!

LOL, yeah my buddy is actually bringing in some sets from Japan in 17's, but I'll never buy TE's for this truck. I don't want to blow almost 3k to scratch them up on the trail. I already did that with the 350z lol and it hurt. I bought a discontinued veilside front lip with authentic chargespeed side skirts, and both those things shattered within a year of driving slammed, so all my money just went to waste lol, after that I started buying replica kits because more than likely, they would just blow up after driving through the 10 freeway a couple of times.

Thank you, I really appreciate it.

I just went on amazon and ordered yellow vinyl. I don't know what the brand was, I just bought a 3x3 layer of vinyl for like 3 dollars. I then got a plastic cup and traced a circle on the vinyl and cut it free handed.

It really wasn't the best job, but you could hardly see the flaws unless you got really close and stared at it. I eventually ditched the vinyl because it would always come off from doing multiple river crossings and the cold moisture during the winter, so I just put in some 6k led bulbs to match my 5k HIDs.

Truck looks great!
I'm another one of those who went from sports cars to off road vehicles with my previous '12 Boss 302... Although mine wasn't bagged. lol

I mean you could always "bag" the rear of the 4Runner, you know, for towing lol

Very nice choice! My dad is actually in the market for a 2017 GT, but he is always changing his mind so will see. I'll definitely post it in here if he gets one lol

And, yes I could bag the rear of the runner for towing purposes if I really get the urge to start hitting switches again lol

Hey Everyone,

Today was the big day! I finally got my 295-70-17 Nitto Trail Grapplers! I think they look awesome on the car and are much more aggressive compared to my KO2's! They are also louder than my KO2's, but I was already expecting that.

I am planning to head back to my local off road recreation area tomorrow (azusa canyon) for fathers day. I don't know if i'll be able to test them out, but I'll definitely cross some rivers!

So, after waiting a month for my gobi ladder, it will finally be arriving Thursday, so I'll be putting that on next weekend!

Next on my list of mods is a factor 55 hook, warn synthetic rope and hawse fairlead. AKA upgrading my zeon 10 to a zeon 10s lol. I am in no rush for getting these items, so I will probably get them in a couple of weeks.

I also have my KO2's for sale on the for sale thread if anyone is interested. I also plan on getting a wilco tire carrier later this summer because a 295 does not fit in the spare compartment. As of now I still have a 285 KO2 under there for a spare. I'll post some quick pics of the truck with the new tires on, and i'll definitely get more pics tomorrow!

Happy Fathers day everyone,

My family and I decided to go out to our local recreation area for fathers day today. We had a little picnic and also did some off roading.

My niece just picked up 2007 fj cruiser for a deal, and it came with allproof front and rear bumpers and BFG KM2's! Unfortunately, it did not make it out of the canyon unscathed. The truck started over heating as we were leaving the staging area. Hopefully it's just a radiator, or thermostat.

Here are some pictures from the day today.

Hey Everyone,

I just want to update this thread with some news!

I haven't gone off roading for quite some time now. The weather here in cali just spiked up to triple digits out of no where!

I do have some updates on the truck!

My truck is just about to hit 70k miles! So I decided it was time to do some maintenance. I brought it to my cousins shop called CCAUTOWERKS located in Monrovia california.

My cousin redid my head gasket on my old 2nd gen 4runner and that thing ran like a champ after it was done, so its safe to say he does very awesome and quality work.

I decided it was time for me to freshen up my fluids lol. I did a front diff flush, transmission flush, oil change, and replaced my rear brake pads! I didn't flush out my rear diff because I just changed the fluid, when I put my rear diff breather on, to make sure there was no water in it.

My cousin only uses the best of the best when it comes to liquids. He used mobil 1 synthetic oil, red line diff fluid, and oem toyota transmission fluid. He also used brembo rear brake pads! The truck has always ran like a champ, but now it runs even better than a champ lol. Next up on my maintenance list is water pump, thermostat, and coolant flush. I will do all that at around 85k, so I still have quite some driving to do! For now, here are some picutures!

FYI all these pictures were taken by my cousin!

LIQUIDS!!!

If anyone needs any repairs done to their car, or just regular maintenance, definitely check out my cousins shop, CCautowerks located at 450 W. Duarte rd, Monrovia, CA.

Now onto some MODs After about a month and a half of waiting I finally got my gobi ladder! I'm so glad I got it! It makes climbing up to my roof much easier, especially since I have my jerry cans up there! Here is a pic of the ladder!

I just ordered my factor55 hook, fairlead, and my rugged ridge synthetic rope winch line!

I decided to go with a rugged ridge synthetic rope instead of a warn due to several reasons. The main reason was price. It is 330 dollars which is the same price as the warn synthetic line, but the rugged ridge that I purchased is rated up to 19,200lbs while the warn is only rated up to 10,000lbs. Now I know some people may think that warn quality is better, and it might be true, but I was thinking about how, if I ever use my snatch block, the warn rope may just snap, while the rugged ridge should be capable to handle such weight, and even if it does snap, I could just tie the rope back together and it should work again.

Also, I have some bad news when it comes to modding my truck. The factor55 hook, fairlead, and synthetic rope, are one of the last things I really wanted for my truck. So the mods are going to be put on a very strict hold for now until indefinite. I still want a wilco rear tire carrier, and some maxtrax, but I feel like, they aren't as important as everything else I bought for the truck. And honestly, I really need to take a break on the modding lol. I've only owned the truck for about 8months, and I have done so much to it already.

On a side note, I don't plan to stop off roading, so I will still update this thread with all my off road adventures, so feel free to still follow this thread lol

Hey everyone,

My factor55 prolink and 1.5 fairlead came in today. In all honesty, I think this thing is pretty stupid functionality wise. You can have a closed winch system by just using your shackle directly to the loop of your wire/synthetic rope instead of using the hook with a loaded spring. I think that would be better then buying this thing for 140 bucks because it would be one less thing on your line that would snap lol

Anyways, I didn't buy it for no reason at all, I bought it for aesthetic purposes. As you know, I don't have a metal bumper, so that means I don't have any shackles I could mount my hook to. It makes a bunch of noise while i'm driving since its just hanging in there not latched onto anything. The factor55 can fit snug onto the fairlead so that it won't make noise. It also looks much cleaner compared to a hook just hanging of the front of your car.

Well, now that my rant is over, i'll post a picture of this stupid beautiful thing lol

Also, my rugged ridge synthetic rope comes in tomorrow, so I'll be putting everything on the car tomorrow evening!
