You're welcome. Try adding the word "5th" on your custom search. That should filter out the results to 5th gens...

Underneath the vehicle, you'll see two cables(one from each rear brake) that connect to one cable(that goes inside the vehicle). The adjusting nut(#1 in the instructions) is on the bracket that connects the two cables to one cable.

I appreciate that, but approximate location? Front of / behind transfer case cross member etc. I looked but didn’t see it.

I’ll raise up the Runner later, but my shoulder isn’t great so don’t want to spend an hour reaching and searching.

Back when I had a Jeep, it was clearly visible.

Do you remember how many clicks you turned the shoe adjuster? the way I'm reading these instructions is to "contract" the adjuster all the way until the disc locks, then "expand" (or loosen) 8 clicks or "notches."

Wondering if the 8 notches worked for you?

YMMV.

I turned the adjustment wheel until the rear hub would not turn using hand strength.

I backed it off 2-3 clicks until it was "free" again.

Now my parking brake is fully engaged when I stop on it and hear 3-5 clicks.

Pretty similar to what I did. Just did my pads and rotors and had to adjust the position in order to get the old rotors off. I tightened until the hub wasn't moving easily, then backed it off a few clicks or so.

Still unclear

I used my parking brake for the first time in awhile last weekend and my milage suddenly dropped from a normal ~15-16 mpg around town to ~13mpg, and the rear rotors are hotter than the front - so I'm thinking the parking brake is dragging. I'd like to try a quick fix until I have more time / better weather to address it.

Before I go crawling around outside in the rain does anyone know if the transition point from the single cable in front to the two separate cables in the rear (one to each rear wheel) is on the inside of the vehicle or the outside of the vehicle? Manual sort of makes it sound like its deep under the center console and hard to get to.

Thanks

Under the center console and easy to get to (removal of the center console trim is easy.)

Awesome - I'll look up now to remove the console then. Thanks for saving me from a cold set crawl under the truck...
