Always say this... Never been a roof rack guy, but I know I'll need it someday.
This looks easy. Even on the pockets.
Pretty cool

Thanks to this forum, I found the 4X Innovations Rola mounts and used them to get my new Rola rack on two days before I left for Moab. The mounts held the rack and about 100 lbs of gear for 6 days.

Does anybody have a good, secure way to mount Plano cases? I used two of the sportsman's trunks to keep gear in, but I just fastened them down with bungee cords and ratchet straps.

I recently ordered and installed the Rola Rack w/ extension with the low profile brackets from 4x Innovations. I bought some black sealant but didn’t see the need to seal this rack. The rack came with rubber sleeves that cover each of the joints quite snuggly, and I don’t see how water could get in. This must be a recent upgrade. I'm curious if those if the racks that some of you got several years ago had these sleeves.

I loaded the rack with about 130 lbs of water, fuel, and gear for a 2700 mile road trip to Utah and Colorado. The rack held this load no problem on some really rough roads (including part of White Rim Trail). We went through high winds and heavy rains, so I’ll be curious to see if any rust develops in the next few days.

I honestly don’t see how anyone would want to put a much heavier load on the roof of their rig. I could definitely feel the higher center of gravity with the roof load through curves and turns. I ended up emptying the fuel and water as soon as I could for the drive home.

For about $200 (including low-profile brackets), I don’t think you can go wrong with this rack.
A lot of the welds have holes in them and water gets in through them, that's where the black sealant comes in. Agreed though, very solid value.

By the way, we finally settled on a small travel trailer, and am going through vehicle weight/laoding to see where we are at. In doing so, I determined that on my heaviest White Rim trip, the rack was carrying 225 pounds (not including the 45# weight of the rack).

Yes I know, way above the rated roof limit. And yes, I'd do it again, with no worries...

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this post. I ordered these mounts and while waiting for them, plastidipped my rails black.

I ended up installing the ROLA with extension and I love it!

^Do you have a sunroof? Always wondered if I could add the extensions and still use the sunroof.

No sunroof here. It looks like it would only cover part of your sunroof.

Can anyone provide the width of the Rola? Trying to figure out if the Curt basket will work with the 4x Mounts.
