Bilstein 6112 Lift Heights

So I haven't seen this info on here or on the internet anywhere in my searches on the 6112's for 5th gens, but I came across it in an unexpected spot...Amazon! So I thought I'd post it here just so it's out there for people to reference. I hope it's somewhat accurate!

It lists the different lift heights for each ring position on the Bilstein 6112's with 7 positions. Hopefully this can help dial in the perfect suspension system!

Due to past experience with 6112's, I'd be leery of the Circlip settings for those lift references....

I can attest to the inaccuracy of the Bilstein estimates. I had mine installed at 4/3 and got less than 1/2". Going to pull them and reset to 6/5...

No

I've got first gen 6112's and the listed heights on their literature is lower than what is achieved when installed.
On the 3rd Circlip, I achieved a 2" lift. IIRC they stated something less than that...,maybe 1 1/2".

Why do they say to only use circlip spots 1 and 3 for 2x4? Thats not ride height adjustable?

I have mine installed at the 7th clip. Got exactly 2.5" in the front. Beware if you have a kdss equipped 4runner. The instructions are misleading. I had mine originally set at 7/6 as per the instructions above, but ended up with the passenger side lower than the drivers side. At equal settings, the truck is balanced side to side (or at least within 1/4").

Old thread revival. So just one final verification before endure the hassle....to raise the circlip and the front end of my 4Runner I have to remove the entire assembly...compress the spring and move the circlip correct?

YEP!

i got mine on the 7th clip for both. i have a slight lean to my passenger side. maybe get shims to correct it if you havent already.

if youre doing the lift yourself have fun! that kdss is a PIA. i helped my buddy with his lift on a non-kdss and it was so damn easy.

since youre disassembling everything. get extended studs so you can add in a spacer to acheive a 3in lift, if not now but maybe later. i wish i did. i dont want to deal with my kdss until i swap out my 6112 for coilovers.

good luck!

With a KDSS 4runner, couldn't you just install clip 6 on the drivers side and clip 7 on the passenger side?

you could but i got mixed reviews. some who did that experienced as much as an 1inch lean with a shim so maybe 1/2-3/4 without? others didnt experience any lean or some who did but recalibrated the kdss system.

i said f it and did it both at 7. my lean is probably just 1/4 judging by my fender to center measurements. not dramatic at all. so im assuming when i installed i compressed the kdss somewhat correctly?

oh and also bilstein never had instructions which clip to use for the kdss system at the time of install. i installed back in '17 when the 2nd gen of the 6112 was released? i think thats when it was released. 5 clip vs 7 clip.

So there’s a post of a guy on the forum who shows a 2” lift on Springs alone on OEM-equipped Bilsteins (non-adjustable). What’s your take on how he’s getting so much lift?

See: TRD Pro with 6112 coils (pics inside)

I have a new 6112 kit posted for sale now because I’m thinking now about Dobinsons setup in part because I don’t want to preload 6112s with high clip settings to get the full 2.5” lift . Any advice is helpful.
