Then they should adjust for the supply and demand. It's shouldn't be a surprise to them they will have a lot of orders. It's been the same story for many years and yet they can't keep up with demand... Their product is great but the setting customer expectations part blows.

Mine took 20 weeks or so to arrive. I was 107 on the list and it arrived second week of May IIRC. When I first ordered it, I knew then that 12-16 weeks was unrealistic. With 106 orders in front of me, granted not all of them were for complete racks, that's a lot of orders. Add to which, they make racks for other makes and models.
So with all that in mind, and the fact it's hand made here in the States, I was okay with waiting longer than original specified time. It sucked for sure waiting so long but it was worth it. I'd do it again if I had to as well.
My order went smooth with no issues. I received an email saying it shipped. Got an email from Amex saying my card was charged. Less than a week later got a call from shipper scheduling a delivery date to my house. We unloaded right into my garage.
I'm by no means a patient man especially when dropping that much coin on an item like this. However, it was definitely worth it. It could always be worse. The Drabbit rack guys are multiple YEARS in line, paid up front and still waiting.

There will always be something to cry and moan about. When I order mine I don't really care if it takes longer than projected. If you want something immediate make it yourself or pay for a custom job otherwise wait like the rest. Long waits are well known for this product. If you want something similar with no promise of delivery at all then order from Drabbits.

So I'm not "old" enough to start my own thread but this seems like the perfect place to talk about how horrible Gobi customer service is.

I ordered a Gobi ladder on April 24th cause I heard they're top notch. I elected to pick up in store because I live not 50 miles away. Sometime around the 25th of May I got a call to come pick it up but I wasn't able to get up there due to work so I asked if I could get it shipped instead. The lady on the phone with me told me it was no big deal and they'd ship it at no extra cost, she then told me she was taking it to the back to get packaged and shipped out. 9 days later I called them back cause I never got a tracking order or a follow up. Turns out the wonderful people at Gobi had given my ladder to another customer instead of shipping it out and I'd have to wait for a new one to come back from powdercoat.
I cancelled my order entirely and I couldn't be happier.

I totally get what you're saying. I don't mind waiting either. I was new to the rack game once I bought our T4R in March and didn't have time to dig through all the 15 page threads to see all opinions/pros and cons.

Just felt it would have been nice to have seen a thread with a warning of the specific issue. It wouldn't bother me so much if they told me upfront it'd be 16+ weeks but on the phone they said 8-12 weeks tops. So yea, Im sure theres others new to the game that would appreciate the heads up without having to stay up until 2am to find it lol.

I would have gone with the baja flat but I absolutely have to have the raised sides. I transport a lot of pelican cases for film production and it was a must. :/

It seems like they are poorly managed. You would think that Gobi would over time increase production, given years of complaints of long waiting periods. If they have 100 orders and they contract to have 100 built, that is foolish. Why not build 200? I am sure that some large amount of people looking for a rack don't wait the 12-18 weeks, and instead buy an alternate brand, that is lost business, it makes no sense. In the meantime you have all these other companies: Rhino, Baja, Front Runner, etc. that are also innovating but not having the same delays as Gobi.

Has anyone ever been able to just order a rack and have it ship? Do they not ship inventory to dealers that stock?

Any feed back on the ladder orders? I am getting ready to place and order and inquired via email as to lead times. Did not get a response. I placed the order online and they are supposed to call me tomorrow for payment details.

Its not going to work for me if the lead time is excessive and or not accurate.

Any one have feedback on ladder order times?

Thanks,
TOP

My response isn't really geared towards anyone company in general, and I hope companies take heed to what I have to say.

as a consumer, I like to spend money with companies that can stand by their word, regardless of how good of a product is. My reasoning behind this is that if they can't give me a honest answers, whether it is in regards to time frame or another matter, what happens down the line if I have to reach out to the company for other issues after the purchase. Will the company be honest then in resolving any product issues in a timely manner? As we all know, mistakes happen and how a company responds to those mistakes is what makes a great company. So when a company doesn't give me honest estimates prior to purchasing, it creates doubts as to whether or not they can resolve any post purchase issue in a timely manner.

Also, lack of communication, or wrong estimates, create doubts for me as to the company's financial stability. Why is it that they can't handle the volume..etc? What happens if they take your money, and they go under after your your charge back grace period has past? It becomes really difficult to get refunded without resorting to litigation. A couple dollars here and there, isn't that big of a deal, but when the product costs 1,xxx, thats a whole different story.

This is why I didn't go with Gobi, and they aren't the only ones that are guilty of this. Its not like we see posts of every day, but horror stories do come up from time to time about companies that make great products, but they either don't understand the consumers needs or just don't care.

I don't mind waiting 6 months on a product, if that is communicated to me before hand.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the people would agree with me.
