Towing Long Term
Question for everyone in regards to towing capability.
For a 2016, the towing capacity is 4800/5000lbs (depending on what you read).
I have been looking at camping trailers, and found myself interested in the Jayco Jay Feather. I was looking at the 19ft model, which comes in with a GVWR of 4,500 lbs per their website. It is my understanding that this is the max weight this trailer will be.
Being that it is this close to the max towing capacity weight, should towing this be an issue?
If this isn't an issue, what are all of my concerns here? I understand that the differential fluids will need to be changed more often and the propeller shaft inspected and lubricated more often, but is there something else I'm missing? Should this not be towed for long distances? (ie Across country) What are my limitations here? I remember a while back someone also mentioned about adding an additional tranny cooler as well. What about airbags? Can that be done with XREAS? Brake controller is already on my list as well.
Thank you!
