Just for consideration - Fox shock shafts are rockwell hardness of 45 on the HRc scale, King shafts are 23. So the fox shocks should resist abrasion a lot better. However, it's cheap insurance for either one. I'm kinda tired of listening to my fox shocks creak all the time, so I'm not in the fox camp by any means.

The big lower joints on most of them do a good job of protecting the lower bushing. I'm not sure a skid is necessary for any functional reason. I don't think you'd damage the shock's function without breaking off the shock mount entirely, but it will keep them pretty. And the shaft protection may have a good functional purpose. Fox and others should follow OME and Toyota's designs that protect the shaft.

They fit fine. I've installed them without slicing on a second set of rear shocks, and I cut the bottom off to allow them to breathe. They were a snug fit on the shock body, but that's a good thing.

Toyota does a lot of the little things right when it comes to making these things durable. When we're complaining about not having auto headlights - I try to remember that we don't have shitty engineering like this gem from Chevy. Imagine trying to figure out how to keep from damaging these shocks.

Can anyone confirm ICON shin guards fitment with KING 2.5 rears?

FJ Toyman looks tough but no real shaft protection from pitting.. I'm leaving boots as a Plan B

OP here. I ended up just installing cheap Procomp blue boots sliced along the length and zip tie. They may tend to catch and accumulate mud and stuff at the bottom since they kind of make a little pouch collector but I know they will do a great job protecting against the sand pitting. I really like the FJ Toyman skids and how they mount with the side bolt is excellent protection.

I've got my sliced boots attached pretty low, to keep some junk from hitting the lower spherical bearing. unfortunately with the kings, the lower rod end bearing is the larger 16T ($$$) instead of the com10T.

To the OP's question, how is anybody else running the Icon guards to be compatible with their parking brake lines (driver's side, especially)?

No photos since I just dry fit them before trying to bolt them on last week, but it seems with moderate travel, the Icon design would jam right up to the parking brake sheaths.

Running a Radflo LT setup, but I'd imagine most any other manufacturer is going to be similar.

Where can I get a set of these?
